I picked up this beautiful Remington 1903 O3-A3 today and I think I got a pretty decent deal on it, $535 after tax.

All of the marked parts have an "R" and the barrel date is 9-43 and the serial number indicates that it was made in 1942 according to m1903.com

I find my 03A3 iis much more accurate than my 03 due tomy 70 year old eyes likeing it's peep site...Yu got a good deal enjoy it.

A nice '03A3, probably a DCM gun back when. Some folks think such guns were rebuilt and cite the cartouche as proof. Not so. By the time the later '03A3's got out there, there were plenty of M1's to go around and many of the bolt guns went from factory direct to depot storage. They were later given to allied countries as military assistance and thousands were sold through DCM for $14.50, plus shipping. They were all proof tested before being released for sale, per army regulations, explaining the San Antonio Arsenal cartouche.

The serial number is far too high to be 1942 and a gun made in 1942 wouldn't have a 1943 barrel. That gun dates to early 1944.

Very nice rifle. Since I sold my Garand, the 03A3 is my only '06 now. But it shoots great and is real wood and steel. I love it. You got a great deal on a great rifle..

one thing about those remingtons, they sure do shoot straight. I have a remington 1903A4 sniper that is amazingly accurate. by far the most accurate milsurp I've ever bought.

your rifle is absolutely superb condition and for $535 dollars I am incredibly jealous.

Very nice. I just found one. The 2nd one I have seen around here in many years. It is also a Remington. Since others say that you stole yours at that price ,what would you guys say a fair price for a very clean one be? I really like this rifle but don't want to over pay for it.

A couple of years ago I sold my 3.9 million A3 for $650.
Yeah you did get a fine deal on a great rifle.

This is not the most reliable web page for dating M1903 rifles. 4.1M serial is at the end of production September 1943 or about that time, is the rifling 4 groove or 2 groove?
