I went in to pick up reloading supplies for an upcoming hunt, ended up walking out with a Dan Wesson 357. I didn't know much about it at the time of purchase, but I felt I had to have it. Here's what I've been able to figure out so far, please correct me if I'm wrong.

It's a model 15
Made in Monson in the late 70's
I'm guessing the jeweled trigged and hammer were not standard

Let me know what you think...

I looked over model 15 with chunkier target-type grip. It did not have jeweling seen here. The DA trigger felt kinda weird but overall I thought it was nice handgun with easy to change barrel system.

It looks to be a pork chop barrel to me...barrels used to be very reasonable for chops but the price has been creeping as of late so if you plan on changing barrels ever snap em up when you see one in good shape.

As far as I know the jeweling wasn't factory so yours may have been smoothed up some in the past. The short action takes some time to get used to but will seem second nature to you in no time.

They are very accurate and stand up well to heavy loads. Grips change out with one screw on the bottom, some people found the grip stub strange but I actually prefer it for cleaning, pop them off without scratching can't beat it!

Have fun and enjoy your new gun. Don't brag on it much cause people will figure these out one day and they'll end up costing as much as Smiths....:)

It is a DW porkchop. Pre model 14 and 15. Bummer is only the porkchop barrels will fit it and they are now very hard to find. But very nice good shooting gun!
