None of the places near me have had any pistol powder for quite some time. My favorite shop for powder is about 70 miles away, so I don't stop in except when it's a planned trip. Today, I called them and they had all the flavors I was looking for. My neighbor and I drove to the shop and each picked up what we'd been looking for. We made a swing through 3 other shops out that way to make the trip really worthwhile, but only picked up some minor stuff. It's fun looking though. One irritation was that the Cabela's that had CCI primers on sale for $32.99/1000 didn't have any small pistol in stock. That happens with them all too often.

I got 3 one pounders of HP-38 for $19.99 each, 2 one pounders of Bullseye for $18.99 each, and 1 one pounder of BE-86 for $18.99. My buddy got 1 one pounder of Bullseye, 1 one pounder of Unique for $18.99, and 1 one pounder of 2400 for $19.99.

I don't understand how this place in a pretty small town often has powder, when the local places in the 'big city' just can't get their hands on any. I made a comment to the guy helping us, that seeing the bag full of powder made me want to get some more, and he replied, to go ahead, that they had plenty.

All in all, a good day. Nice weather for the drive with a friend and happy with the powder pick up.

Oops....after submitting, I see I was still in General Discussions. I'm assuming this will be moved to Handloading. My apologies.

Those are good prices. My local store sent an e-mail 2 weeks ago, said they had gone from bust to boom on powder. Had more than space, so they had a sale. Right now, I have a powder surplus, too.

I have the same thing near me. I probably have 15+/- gun stores, big and small near me, but only one that has powder and primers. And they seem to have a ton of it in everything from 1, 4, 8 pound jugs to 15/20 pound kegs. But the last time I was there, their prices were $28 and up per pound.

This place has been able to stock powders when others haven't, and they've kept the prices relatively reasonable. They don't have everything all the time, but usually have some of what you're looking for. A couple of weeks ago, I called them but they were out of Unique and one of the others. When I called this time, they had everything, so we made the trip.

Feels good to have replenished the shelf.
