My dad stopped about 3 miles from one of our farms and took these two pics of someone's field. He said there were probably at least 100 mule deer in the field, and he saw a bunch more over about a 20 mile drive. Most of the bucks have shed because he only saw 1 set of antlers out of all the deer.

Sorry for the size of the pics.

Hard to see them but there were quite a few out there.

Here's a little one that wandered close to us earlier in the day.

Here are a couple I've posted here before.

He finally got up from his bed when I got within about 5 yards.

I wish deer let me that close. If I'm 300 yards down a field in the open, they're bookin.

That's an awesome pic of the deer and the cat!!!!

I got to "pet" a fawn once---but it was in a pen at a buffalo farm-----coolest thing I've ever had the chance to do!!!!

Friday morning, I stopped in the road, with my 4 ways on and watched 25 deer cross the road in front of me, and I have no idea how many crossed the road before I got there----about 4 miles from home-----AWESOME!!!

Deer and cat photo

This is an open letter to this post of the photo shown between the cat and Deer.

i have been searching the net since last week, when it was brought to my attention that unknown sources have claimed this as their work.
Thus my posting to this forum along with several others.

My photo was submitted to the "country Extra": magazine in the latter part of last yr and made its public appearance in the Jan 2008' issue- page 22.

I live in colorado and i just want to set the record straight as to the photographer and the area it was taken in.

I thank you for your time.

Thank you, Tumbleweed43

Thanks, Marilyn, for taking the time to inform us. It's discouraging to be part of Internet forums but fail to get the real info on people, places, and images we enjoy.

Nice photo. You should be very proud.

Best regards.

Thank you, the sad part of this was, that i will now have to watermark all of my photos , and think twice before posting.

all I had intended to do, was Share what brought joy into my life, and put a smile on other faces.

Thank you, again.

I hadn't seen any mule deer before living in WA state, interesting critters. They know how to hide well enough in the tall grass, that's for sure. There were three or four more of these down in the grass out there past the berms.

For the record i never claimed it to be my photo. I received it from my sister in a email that was forwarded a few times. I posted the "taken a few weeks ago" as that was the last time we had snow. And it was in the email it was taken recently

One of these days I'm going to have to grab my camera and go driving around at night. Mule deer are almost as numerous in town as squirrels after dark. And they will let you get damned close to them, too.

Only thing I can attribute this to is the fact that there is little hunting pressure near town, so deer tend to hang out around here. That, and all of the lawns and shrubbery make for easy to find food.

My experience is that mule deer just aren't very wary and will let you get close to them anywhere.

That hasn't been my experience. Mostly, they won't let you get within 50-100 yards, unless they're bedded down and hiding in the brush. These will let you approach to 10-20 yards.

Like I said, I think hunting pressure has a lot to do with it. The ones that won't let me get within 50-100 yards are usually on public BLM land. The ones that let me get closer have all been on private land.

Tumbleweed43, Your photo, plagurized or not, has brought a smile to many. Don't stop snapping photos just because there are others a bit dishonest.

I have not reseached the authenticity of your post, but well... just because... I believe you.
