Thought you all might enjoy some pictures of these fine young Marines out of Camp Lejeune, NC.

I taught a 2-day military tactical operation course this weekend that included the handgun, shotgun, and carbine. These are but a few pictures from the first day (Saturday). I will post more of the first day as well as those from day two when I get them uploaded.

While I always enjoy instructing, it is a distinct pleasure and honor to present a course to some young infantry Marines that will be headed to Afghanistan within the next two months. Even more impressive is that these lower enlisted guys paid out of their own pockets to get the advanced training.

Enjoy.

VERY cool! I can't imagine the feeling of knowing you probably contributed to saving a few of their lives. My hat is most definitely off to you!

And why didn't USMC pick up the tab?????

What happened with their planned training?

You need to understand how dedicated professionals are.

We had rapelling towers at Ft Bragg that were only used occaisionally.
Most of us bought our own ropes and spent Sundays on them.
Learned to Rappel real good.

I knew a bunch of skydivers that were old time airborne guys, a couple had single digit D licenses.
There were some Golden Knights who jumped several times a day training, then spent money to jump on weekends.
They were all affiliated with the "Green Beret Sport Parachute Club."
They jumped Raeford DL-prolly sitll do.

Also guys used to go down to the 82 Airborne on weekends and wait for open slots in jump manifests.

These were the guys one wanted to serve with.

It is always my desire that I increase the survivability of my students, but you are indeed correct. Knowing that your 19-21 year old students are two short months away from kicking in doors adds a level of seriousness, and overwhelming pride, to the role.

Unfortunately the powers that be, even in the Marine Corps (which I respect highly), don't always train their ground pounders to the level required by the mission. Nonetheless, it is great to see the young fighters take training so seriously that they accept the responsibility for their own survival. Hopefully, they will take these skills back to their units and multiply their knowledge amongst their peers.

What training facility did you use for the class?

lpl

Day 1 was held at a private facility (they prefer not to be publicized). Those are the pictures that appear to be more in the open and include the tower pics.

Day 2 was held at Range 37 in Bunnlevel, NC. That is where we used the bays, vehicles, props, and shoot house.

As I looked trough the slide I would start getting all jacked up and then the dog would have a bit of a calming effect. Not much as it reminded me of hunting with dogs.

Lot of good pics.
