Im looking for a little inspiration and was hoping to get some pictures of other members custom mausers, and a detail of what barrel, or caliber, etc.

I just bought this and brought it home today. It is a Mauser 96 action with a .308 heavy barrel. Real sweet trigger. Barrel is 1:10" The scope is a little Nikon I had lying around. I just put on it until I can buy new glass.

Not all that custom, but not original. Boyd's laminate stock, Bold trigger, and a Timney safety. Still the original barrel in 8x57 just removed the sights and reblued.

Thanks, Liberty, mine is actually engraved ".275 Rigby or 7x57". The problem is you can't get .275 Rigby brass anymore and if you go to Africa hunting the ammunition has to match the firearm.
The Argentine was actually sporterized back in the late 50's early 60's, Williams had quite a business going doing all sorts of sporterizing jobs on Mausers. It's kind of a shame for military rifle collectors because it's 100% matching and everything is in excellent condition. It also shoots extremely well, 3 shots with 180 gr. (.311" bullets) handloads at 2550 FPS usually run around .8-.9" sitting on bags at 100 yards. I can't see well enough anymore to shoot it much farther than that without a scope though. I think they did a really good job, it's old school but does have a certain air about it.

FN K-98 rebarreled to 7.62x51 by Israelis in the 1960s.
I scouted it little over 20 years ago. In case of scope failure, made a poor boy aperture ghost ring rear, front sight gives good sight picture, cut barrel down to 18.5”. Reversed B-Square scout mount and retrofited to be more solid. Cut down butt stock to where cup butt plate came up to, then cut down cup butt plate and reinstalled. Has a timney trigger, drilled two holes in Butt stock, then epoxied in lengths of 1/2” PVC to lighten and bolt knob milled out. Made cheek riser from piece of original forestock and fitted.

98 Mauser, still in 8mm but the barrel has been shortened and recrowned, drill and tapped for scope mounts, Boyd stock, and I have both a 3 round Gibbs detachable hunting magazine as well as the 20 round trench mag that is on it here...
Shoots surplus into about 1 1/2 inches at 100 yards...

Here's mine built in "74" a 25/06 w/Roberts stock, Timney trigger, Buhler safety, Redfield base and mounts. Glassbedded action, floated barrel. Shilen barrel 24", Brno-VZ24 action. It will only shoot 5/8" groups now, don't know if it's the 74 year old trigger squeezer or the rifle, probaly not the rifle. Al

Here's one I repaired the stock and refinished year before last. Don't know the craftsman that made it, but it is a beautiful job. It's a 220 Swift on an FN action wish I could say I did it, but was privaleged to do the work I did on it. Al

Purchased in 1957, $39.99 mail order 7x57. Handed down to me from my father 21 years ago, I take it out every now and then and harass the local wildlife. Spooky accurate!
I love the 98 sporting rifles. Have a couple custom numbers. One I bought and the rest I built.
Bought this one. Typical European sporter made between the wars in Bavaria.
Used a Colombian military 98 in 30-'06 as the base. Added a laminated stock, new trigger, folding leaf sight, ramped front sight (Rugger 77 banded front sights work well for me), barrel mounted front swivel.
Started with a CZ commercial action that came with dual set triggers and slapped on a Douglas 30-'06 tube, a classic Euro style walnut stock with steel butt plate, receiver sight with Williams front ramp featuring a huge hood to add to the Euro look, and my usual barrel mounted swivel.

Thanks. I am getting some really good guidance and I have high hopes for it.
The barrel was made and installed on the action by Sukalle in Phoenix in 1946. I found it in broken stock and in need of some TLC. I grew up very near the Sukalle shop (but long after he was gone) which inspired my interest in putting it back together.

this is my M24/47 with a Boyd's walnut stock, Timney trigger, Leupold mnts & rings and a Pentax 1.75x5x20. 60+ year old action & barrel and it prints 1-1/4" with my handloads.

Swedish '94 carbine, an Interarms 1950s import, contemporaneously "sporterized" with Bishop stock. They did a nice trigger job. Vintage Lyman bases and rings. Recent Nikon scope. Not very beautiful but she sure is deadly.
I have a few sporterized Mauser rifles that I got cheap and cleaned up, but they all look similar to one another. This one though is special (to me at least), I bought from a gentleman who's father brought it home from WWII.
