How much would you pay for a used Pietta 1851 Navy revolver .36 cal. , steel frame , brass trigger guard and grip . in good looking condition , no rusting and barrel is clean ?

That is what I was thinking , but they have gone up in price now at Midway . I saw them there for $330 dollars . It wasn’t long ago you could get them for $280 dollars there . Like everything else prices are going up .

Yep, and my price estimations are all based on what I paid years ago and what I THINK they should still cost, not what they actually cost now. But I still wouldn't pay more than $200 for a used one unless it was particularly special. Cabela's wants like $315 for BRASS framed piettas now. It's kind of ridiculous.

FYI just checked and Cabela's has a sale on the "old west" 1851 for $299 now, $70 off.

if you live near one. The Old Silver Remington NMA is the same price as well

Most of mine were bought new for less than $125. Some for way-way under. Don't forget; $125 of real money is the equivalent of $375 in Biden-Bucks.

Got my Pietta .36 steel frame 1851 from Cabelas in 1996. Paid $149.99. Used a lot. Still runs great.

I’d sell it for $600.00 if the buyer pays freight.

The last Pietta 1851s I purchased from Cabela's was in 2014 at $192.00 ea. two consecutive serial numbers
Both still NIB
Yep, I'd be willing to match Eyrie G. Dogg's deal if you take 'em both LOL

I bought mine in 2011 IIRC it was 150.00 but might have been on sale. I doubt I could get that back out of it but it's not for sale.

I just bought a pietta remington pocket .31 and a pietta steel .36 for $150 each at a local shop. Also picked up a 1860 army in .44 for $200. so, I agree, 150 to 200 tops for me for a used pietta BP .36 steel. Folks seem to be ditching these locally since they cant shoot them without caps.

I picked up 2 pocket pistols for 200 each as mentioned in a previous thread. I am curious as to how widespread the cap shortage is, I haven't been anywhere lately to see if there's any in the stores.

Last I heard, and this is from the internet, can confirmed by one local ship - so take it for what it is worth.

CCI has said that they make their cap batches in spring/summer in prep for getting them in the stores for the fall hunting season. Other than that they are making centerfire primers in their facilities. This was confirmed by my local guy who said they got a bunch in last august/september but nothing since.

What does that have to do with the price of eggs in China. 🤔

That was a response to jack rabbit asking: "I am curious as to how widespread the cap shortage is, I haven't been anywhere lately to see if there's any in the stores."

CCI must have really cut back on production. I guess with the current Bozo in the White House things are gonna stay scarce. Especially shooting supplies.

Oh ok. My apologies.

The next time I go shopping I'll have to go by my LGS and see what they have.

I bought a new EuroArms 1851 Brass-framed in the late '70s or early '80s at a pawn shop for about for about $50. Never shot it much and never will. .36 is a pretty useless caliber in a revolver IMO.

There are none locally to me and haven't been for a couple years at least. And when they did have them, they were CCI or Remington #11s sold for about $9/100. I haven't seen any Remington #10s on a shelf/rack for at least 5 years IIRC.
