I'm a novice gun tinkerer and would like to know, if i piller bed my remington 700, does that mean i don't have to glass bed it as well

If your rifle is shooting well don't mess with it.

If it is not, and it is due to bedding, balancing the action on metal pillars will not fix the problem.

You will have to glass the action after installing the pillars to improve things.

If it don't group well , I would glass bed first, if you do that correctly you probably won't need the pillars. Like the previous post, if it shoots good don't mess with it

I glass bedded my Savage bolt action 22-250 by using a Dremel and making deep cuts where the action lies. I also used course sandpaper on a dowel to make the barrel clearance to free-float the barrel.

If you are methodical and careful about what you are doing, it can look great and function even greater!

I am pulling 1/2" groups at 200 yards (off the bench) with 50g TNT bullets (muzzle velocity) 3,920 FPS.

That's a lot better than before I worked on the gun!
