Just got a RRA Entry Tactical and I want to pimp it out with Rail system(Surefire,Larue,Knights Armaments), flash suppressor(Vortex or Phantom), sites(Eotech,Trijicon,Aimpoint), and slings. Help me pimp it

You may want to take it to the range first and fire it a few times before pimping it. ;) What do you plan to use it for? Home defense? Plinking? Zombie headshots when the world ends? Hang it on the wall?

What twist barrel did you get? Is it chrome-lined?

Home defense,Plinking,Mutant Zombie headshots when the world ends gun. And I will add Parts after the break in, this thread is about Pimping an AR not schooling on to break it in or its use. :) My question is if you wanted to Pimp out a M-4 what would you install?

My suggested upgrades in the order I would do them.

Assuming you are starting with an A3 upper with the RRA Tactical Carry Handle.

  1. Magpul Stock - adjustable, great cheekweld, collapsible for storage and transport.
  2. Pistol Grip - Magpul Ergo Grip or MIAD. TD is pretty popular, as well.
  3. Effective FS - Phantom 5c2.
  4. Decent BUIS - lose the RRA handle and get a Troy or ARMS flip-up.
  5. Aimpoint - people will go back and forth between EOTech and Aimpoint all day. You now have my input.
Stop here if you aren't going to put a VFG or light on it. Otherwise:
  1. Railed FF forend - don't bother with non-FF. Larue and Daniel Defense make rails that are in line with the weights of standard handguards. YHM makes a solid product at a good price point.
  2. Light - Surefire or Surefire. Or you could get a Surefire. Unless you decide on a Surefire.
  3. VFG - I like the CQD, but they are pretty heavy. I'd also look to TD or the KAC is a solid original.

Vortex FH, EoTech, Surefire rail, Surefire M900 light, Vltor stock, ARMS #40 rear and PRI front flip up sights.

You'll be pimpin then, and you''ll look like the custom $2500+ guns we churn out of here everyday, FOR LESS!

Skip the Surefire Rails as they are not FF, and skip the VLTOR stock as it's just expensive and obsolete.

Yeah, do as Tech Brute says and skip the Surefire rail and Vltor stock since they're being sent overseas more than any other "tactical" product he's mentioned.

If anything I'd get the Aimpoint Comp M2/ML2 or M3/ML3 (3 series is going to be out soon from what I understand).

I think front rails are overrated. I wouldn't mount optics on them. I wouldn't use a vertical foregrip since I am more comfortable using the magwell as a foregrip. If you have to get front rails, then get the Larue.

Ammo, training and not much else (maybe optics, better trigger...possibly a light if you plan to use in real world low light work). When additional purchase of those no longer significantly improves skillset, add bling.

Yeah, do as Tech Brute says and skip the Surefire rail and Vltor stock since they're being sent overseas more than any other "tactical" product he's mentioned.
My bad, I didn't see the part where that mattered. You'll want to qualify that statement, too, if you want anyone to take it seriously. It seems you have some sort of small shop. If you are fulfilling .gov contracts, the info might be credible. If individuals are just trying to get their hands on any gear in a hurry and that's what you have in stock, then I'm not going to take that seriously. Also, I have yet to meet anyone who has used both the VLTOR and the Magpul and still chooses the VLTOR, unless it's just a budget issue and they can't come up with the extra $50.

a Rock River lower will not accept a DIAS since the shelf is too high. you will need a milling machine to mill it down to accept a DIAS. but for those who are curious a RDIAS is running about $10.5k.

my friend just got a Yankee Hill flip up front sight w/ integral gas block w/ matching flip up rear sight. i personally like the ARMS and GG&G rear flip up sights.

one piece vs. two piece rail systems....depends on how much ninja stuff you are putting on the front. one piece is obviously better but you got to remove the front sight triangle, flash suppressor, gas tube, etc to install it.

if you go with one piece free float i like Daniel Defense. so does Rock River =) if it is two piece....Yankee Hill is putting out a competitvely priced one ($120ish). You can also get a SureFire ($175ish) or Knights Armament ($225ish to 250ish)

i also like the ARMS forward grip, when it matches with the A2 GI rear grip. otherwise, with the Hogue grip which is standard on Rock Rivers, i'd get something else because it doesnt match. kinda like wearing different colored socks on each foot. :)

if you go with a "stick" type forward grip id go with the Young Manufacturing aluminum grip (vs. a plastic grip), they are available through Model 1 Sales.

i prefer EOTech to Aimpoint but that is my opinion. the reticle is larger and easier to see through if you ask me. but you should shoot two eyes open so it really doesn't matter. Aimpoint is easier to power up, EoTech seems neater once it is on.

alot of people like EOTech with the flip up front & rear. as far as Trijicon, id stay away from the Reflex. they are rather dim compared to the battery powered models.

i like the Vltor stock, but i must admit it is overpriced. battery compartments are convenient if you're running a battery powered optic. cheek weld is nice fitting too at least for me.

my set up is:

Vltor modstock
Knights two-piece handguard w/ hard plastic covers
ARMS rear flip-up sight
EOTech 511
Vortex flash suppressor (on M4 bbl 1/9)
Viking Tactics sling
ARMS forward vertical grip
host weapon is a Bushy M4A3

not the best setup, but for a "demo" gun its not bad.

Also who uses a Acog and how do they like it
Depending on the model, they are great for 300yd+ shots. They are a borderline impediment for CQB. I prefer the Aimpoint (or EOTech) type sight for anything under 300 yards. Anytime I shoot over 300 yards, I'm using a .308.

hard to shoot with two eyes open with an ACOG since its 4x. for CQB its not a good choice, but the SF guys love it with the 1/7 bbls and 77 gr Sierra Match King.

:D

+1 on everything TechBrute said

in addition,
lots of 30rnd mags w/ magpul followers and ranger plates
a tactical sling (wilderness sling point, or whatever you like)
Aimpoint magnifier
all Larue mounts
Larue's new tactical battle light (it's LED and 100 lumens for 90 min)
laser (Laser Devices OTAL)
an infrared laser and night vision would be the bomb, but those are hard to get
so is a suppressor

now if you really want to get pimpin' then you need a color scheme. get all accessories in the same color. coyote brown is very popular now. if you really want to go all out, once the gun is complete, give it a custom paint job.

i dont mind the Magpuls on the bases of the mags since they protect them when the drop, but i've seen alot of the "high speed low drag" shooters at the range use the rings on the bottom to hold the mags after they dump them.

as in, they eject the mag into their hand instead of letting it fall to the ground and picking them up later. why do they do this? this is a bad habit. :banghead:

that has nothing to do with Magpuls, but people seem to buy them and then drop the mag into their left hand after shooting. if you buy the Magpul let it drop to the ground, that is what it is designed for!

First thing to consider is the sighting system. As far as I am concerned there are only two choices in optics: Aimpoint and ACOG. I have both and have no preference between them. Buy a quality mount: I recommend LaRue although I am using ARMS mounts on all mine, in the future they will be La Rue.
Next I would buy a back up iron sight. I have ARMS, GG&G, and Troy. All are good. I am probably going to try a LaRue on my next one.
I have KAC RASII free floating rail systems on the ones I own with a rail. I am going to try LaRue on my next one.
For forward vertical grips, I use KAC or my Surefire 900 series light. If you think you might ever use the gun for serious purposes, you need a light and the best by far is the Surefire 900 series. I use a vertical foregrip and am not real concerned about which one. I do like the ability to quickly and easily remove the grip so I can install the light. I also recently bought a neat little accessory from LaRue: a bipod mount. Occasionally, I like to shoot my AR15s off the bench to see their potential accuracy. I don't want to leave the bipod on the gun, I just occasionally like to install it to shoot some paper. With my rail system and the LaRue mount, I can install it and remove it in seconds. Point is that there is a lot you can do with a rail system.
All my guns have a single point tac sling from The Wilderness.
The last thing I am in the process of doing to all my ARs (or at least, most of them) is the AAC M4-2000 suppressor mentioned earlier. It uses a special flash suppressor that allows rapid installation and removal of the supressor. The suppressor is in the system and I am waiting on the tax stamp to take it home. I haven't sent any of my uppers for the flash suppressor installation yet but am going to do so real soon.
I prefer a fixed, A1 length stock and don't care about the pistol grip: I shoot the factory one on all my ARs.
This stuff has served me well over many, many thousands of rounds of ammo, many years, and several shooting schools. During that time I have tried other products, and seen most of the stuff out there being used. I think I have the best stuff out there or I wouldn't be using it.

444 seems to like LaRue lol he only said it 6 times in his last post. :D

you can also get a GemTech their M4-96D has the bi-lock quick detach system. although i have an AAC M4-2000 in stock (new) i still prefer GemTech's design.
