I've been helping the neighbor girl get into shooting for a few years. Now, at age 20 she has decided to join her brothers, dad, and me at deer camp. I'd like to get her a decent pink micarta handled fixed blade. Google returns lots of scales and blanks, but nothing finished (that I could find).

Any suggestions? I'd like to spend less than $100, so that pretty much excludes customs.

Thanks!

Fat 46,

You won't be able to find finished pink scales since they'd have to be fitted to a specific knife.

OTOH, you might look for one of the pink breast cancer awareness knives that manufacturers have been making available.

You also might be surprised what a custom maker might be able to do so don't give up on that as an idea.

I cant find any pink fixed blade at all. I just thumb the SMKW catalog. Folders
yes but no fixed blades.
Yup - I looked through the same catalog a few hours ago. Being that its 2 weeks from opener, I think I'll look for a good production knife for this year, and talk to a few makers I have knives from for next year.

Nothing like good planning...and this was NOTHING like good planning!

Fat 46,

You'd surprised how quick a custom maker who wants to crank out a kid's first custom deer knife can produce one. PM our local knifemakers to see if they can help.

Andy Roy of Fiddleback Forge is a budding knifemaker and a sterling human being. If you can pick up that pink knife of his, you won't go wrong.

Thanks for all the input. As it turned out Erik Fritz had exactly what I was looking for already made and waiting. Forged from 52100.

6 3/4" overall length

The price was substantially less than I expected, especially from someone like Erik - his knives are fetching decent prices now that he's been "discovered".

red is for attention

All the pink stuff is for little girls. Gradeschool even.

Most all women like red; and usually deep hue. Take a look at the finger nail polish. Not at the office, but out on the town.

There are many more red scale -fixed made than pink, and my guess is she will like a red one better.

Unless, she has requested pink specifically.

Did I say red? Women have also been known to change their mind.
