I'm planning on picking up a Colt 14.5" upper and having a Vortex pinned to make it long enough that I don't need a tax stamp. It's a hassle in my county for the time being.

At some point I am thinking I will get a suppressor for it.

The question is, ADCO will take apart the upper, check thread concentricity, pin the vortex on, and put the whole thing back together for a price. What are the odds with a new Colt upper that the threads are concentric enough to not worry about this problem until it becomes a problem?

They can always chop the thing off and mess around with it in the future if it becomes an issue.

Thanks!

About 100%

That was the most concise and helpful answer I have ever had to a question posted on the Internet.

Thank you!

Also thank you for saving me about $100 in unnecessary shop work. I owe you a beer.

IF they were not concentric I think you would get strikes on your current flash hider / suppressor.

My suppressor went from my 9MM AR SBR, my 5.56, my full 16" 5.56 and my friends. CMMG, RRA, PSA and I believe Model1 (I cant remember who made the upper) and I have had ZERO issues.

They were all factory threaded.

My question is, once you get the suppressor will you then pin a QD flash hider on it to make it 16" or is the Vortex capable of attaching a suppresor to it?

Because otherwise you would than have an unapproved SBR with a suppressor attached. You can't count the suppressor length.

I briefly looked at it and it appears it may allow a suppressor to attach.

The vortex will take a suppressor as is, and should make it 16"

The smith cans fit it, obviously, but the gemtech halo will fit too apparently, and that is easier to find.
