Does anyone know of any pistol/ammunition safes currently being produced. I am not talking about the single pistol safe or $500+ fireproof safes. All I want is a metal safe that can hold ammo and my other firearm accessories. I would prefer to be able to mount the safe on top of my 14-gun sentinel safe. I don't want anything real fancy, just a metal box with a lock basically. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Sounds like you want one of those small 12 guage gun cabinets. They are cheap, run in many sizes, and can be locked. Basically, its a metal box that can be locked like you said. Not the most secure thing in the world, but that didnt sound like what you wanted anyway.

Pistol safe

Stack-On Makes a small safe called the Stack-On Strong Box Safe. It's about the size of my notebook and aprox 12" tall with a single shelf. It has a programable push button combanation lock. It's not fire proof or anything but will keep weapons relativly safe from kids etc. Since you get to program the com. you should have no problem remembering it. Mine holds 4 pistols with extra mags pretty comfortably. I think it cost me about $60 bucks at a Bass Pro Shop.

Thanks for the replies. The kind that I want most nearly resembles the Stack-on. Do you know of any pistol/ammo safes that have a depth of 16 inches?

Why would you want to lock ammo in a safe? It is not particularly hard to acquire, nor expensive.

Well I don't know about that....seems milsurp 7.62 NATO is getting fairly hard to find and at the price it's been going for it isn't Wolf brand cheap. Even Wally World 45acp is more than two bits a round now. If the guy want to keep his stash under lock and key I say go for it. At least he will know where it is when he wants it.

I have one that I got from Wal-Mart that is made by Sentinel. It has two shelves and measures 18" h x 21" w x 10" d. It has a cylinder lock on it so it's not real secure but will keep the little ones out of my ammo. I keep both guns and ammo locked up so I don't have to worry if any children will get into them and getting hurt when I'm not home.

I want a safe for not only ammo, but also items such as scopes, magazines, etc. At least with a safe, I can be in my room and see a uniformed metal box and not a disorganized pile of ammo, scopes, magazines, etc.

Do you know if that Sentinel pistol/ammo safe from Wal-Mart is still sold by Wal-Mart and if so, how much. I don't think they make safes that are as deep as I'd like, so the Sentinel or Stack-on may have to suffice. Thanks.
