I read this article https://www.guns.com/news/2019/01/0...sign-reveals-handguard-adapters-for-ruger-pc9 and one of the photos that shows a side profile of the rifle looks kind of neat and got me thinking about why there isn't something like that in a pistol caliber with a tubular magazine.

I know there are tubular magazine semi automatic 22LR rifles, tubular magazine lever action rifles, and tubular magazine semi automatic shotguns but are there any tubular magazine semi automatic rifles in a common pistol caliber?

In CAS events rifles are usually loaded with 10 rounds for the commonly used calibers and most auto calibers are shorter in OAL 10 rounds would fit easily in a 16 inch rifle. Would a design like this be functional?

The Ruger .44 carbine was manufactured with a tubular magazine. Not sure of any others, but I bet they exist.

I think, however, since it is so easy to feed a modern rimless round from a double stacked pistol magazine, magazine fed semi-automatics are here to stay. Not sure there would be much interest in a tube feed, unless it was firing one of the big boomer magnum rounds and the tube magazine was somehow more practical.

Tube magazines look better. That is were it ends for me.
If it's a lever gun, I'm in. If it's semi auto; A tube magazine is slow too reload unless you are Jerry Miculek.

Tubular magazines are dangerous with the wrong bullet or bullet profile. Stacked nose to base if somehow the nose ignites the round in front of it the chain reaction can mame or even kill. That's why you don't see them in most pistol calibers. It is an added liability.
