Took Steve Fisher's Pistol 1 class again at Centerline Range in Bellevue, Michigan. Once again, a good class, with lots of drawing from the holster. The class starts with very basic drills because its a beginning class, but I'd say more than 1/2 of the people there had taken the class previously and took it again as a refresher.

We covered draw strokes, speed and tactical reloads, shooting on the move, shooting strong and support hand and a lot of other drills.

The day started out a little soggy but the sun came out and it was a perfect spring day.

I also got to finally meet THR's Trebor, although we've exchanged emails for quite a while. That was nice!

Next week we're both taking the Carbine 1 class with Steve.

Yep, it was a good class. Steve knows his stuff and knows how to get it across to his students. He' also a no-BS kind of guy.

It was nice to finally meet Barb in the flesh as well. For a 6"1 Blonde, she's a little short.

Barbara,

Sounds like a good class- keep up the good work, training and publicizing training opportunities in your AO.

I also took Steve's pistol 1 Class on sat. And like Barb said It was a very good class. All of the drills were done in an order that allowed the shooter to build new skills on top of the skills from the previous drill. At all times Steve was on top of what his students were doing, both good and bad. As the class had about 14 shooters in it Steve took the time to help out each shooter with thier problems as if it were a one on one class. Steve's approach to training is simple, understand your weapon system to its fullest and drill till you cant get it wrong. His reason behind this is simple: your carrying a gun for protection and if everything goes wrong, you only have one chance to get it right and stay alive. Steve pulls no punches when it comes to shooting and training. The ladies at the class {there were 3} took it just like the men did, meaning your gender wont help you if you screw up. I think everyone that took the class walked away from it with somthing to put in thier bag of tricks.

And FWIW Barb is a dead on shot with that Sig of hers!

Hey Vinnie,

Well, Steve didn't have to yell at the ladies as much because he got to yell at me instead. That's fine though, if I screw up, I expect to be told about it.

I have *got* to get some electronic muffs though. I SWEAR I heard "Move Forward" on that one drill. Under all that hearing protection sometimes it's hard to tell. That was a good lesson for me though on being aware of what's going on around me. Next time I'll know if I'm the *only* person moving forward when everyone else is moving *REARWARD.*

While in Michigan I took my NRA class as part of the req to apply for a CPL. Steve was the man running the range part of the class. I must say he was a no B.S guy but tought us well and others better who really needed it. His knows his stuff. If time and travel ever allowed me to take any of his classes I would.
