During a conversation this morning, one of our customers mentioned that he will be taking some of HIS customers out for "Something different" when they come over from Europe.

My contact is a hunter that doesn't have much experience with handguns, so I was going to recommend a 38 revolver and 9mm auto to start with.

One of his visitors has fired handguns before and would like to try it again. The other expressed interest also, since he lives in England and doesn't have the opportunity at home.

SO, in the interest of helping to advance the cause, I offered to research the availability of ranges in the York, PA area.

Any suggestions on a location that would be user friendly, appropriate for / sympathetic to novices, and perhaps have rentals available?

Not in your part of PA but would say - there are a good many members here from that sort of area - in fact Brian Williams IIRC is Lancaster County and we have some guys in Bucks too. Hopefully some will respond and get you fixed up.

There is a shop down in Shrewsbury that should be opening a range soon. That is down 83 from York.

I know a great range

West York Sporting Goods at 1059 West Market Street, in York has a pulic range, open Noon to 9 pm Friday through sunday and rents guns and is nubie friendly, provided someone is there to shoot with the novice.

West York Sporting Goods...

can be found at http://www.learntoshoot.net I believe. The owner (Steve?) is a friendly guy and the range is nice (if a little small at 4 or 5 lanes). I've only shot there once (for the practical part of my handgun safety class for my FL permit) but I'd go back if it wasn't 30-45 minutes from the house.

I don't think they have rentals though.

Thanks for the replies. I don't live in PA, I just offered to do some research for him.

I know he could've just looked in the yellow pages or something, but I wanted some opinions from those familiar with the area.

I will be forwarding all your suggestions, though deker and lawyerboyleslie's sounds perfect. Thanks for the link, also.
This will give him time to check them out before his guests arrive.

Thanks for the help, and happy Turkey Day.........

Though I will be dining on the traditional holiday lobster :D
