I am considering starting reloading and buying a Hornady LNL AP. One place I have room for this is in our sunroom, however, our sunroom also has a jacuzzi in it. Is this a bad idea because of the moisture in the air? The sunroom is well ventilated with 2 fans, one ceiling, and one vent fan.

The wife will let you put reloading stuff next to the jacuzzi????? Wow!

Personally I wouldn't be to hot on the humidity levels there, but I'm sure some more expert advice will follow.

put a small amount of sugar in a saucer. Place it in that room for 1 week. If any of it starts to stick together, I'd avoid that room.

wow, suger in a saucer. Learn something new everyday. Unfortunately in Miami, there isn't a room in the house that would pass that test.

OH... Miami... well in that event you will need to carry your reloader to the nearest cigar shop and set it up in their humador. :D Have you considered hitting the local Lowe's and getting a dehumidifier? Room with hot tub not a good place for it though...

Humador....trust me I've thought about it.

I actually have my reloading equipment in a room by itself that I built in the garage. I have a window unit that keeps the tempreture and humidity down. During the winter our humidity is tolerable. It's currently 80 degrees with 56% humidity today. I'm going to try the sugar test to see if I need a dehumidifier. My only concern is that the bucket will have to be emptied 10 times a day.:D

Browns Fan, let us know what you end up doing.

Robctwo,
Where do you have your reloader?

ATAShooter,
Great idea, doing that right now! Thanks for a simple, yet effective solution.

I have a daylight basement. Heated. Big enough to store my 18 1/2 foot Bayliner in it, plus a nice reloading bench. I built the bench specifically for the reloader. Lots of room. Very sturdy. Nice big windows and florescent lighting. Just went down and put together another 200 rounds of .45 this evening. Trying 4.7 gr Titegroup under a 200 gr Oregon Laser Cast SWC. I got the OLC reloading manual and that is the max listed for them. i've put a bunch of other rounds together with up to 5.4 gr Titegroup without a problem.

I used to have my bench in a heated basement and a wood furnace kept things pretty dry. When Spring came I made it a ritual of wipeing everything down an oiled rag and never had any problems. When I was no longer able to negotiate stairs my wife suggested I take over a wing of log cabin livingroom and install a bench there. ( God Bless the little rascal ). Now I don't even have go through the Spring wipe down.........Essex

You may have another problem !

Do you use clorine in your hot-tub/jacuzzi ?

If so, keep everything away from it !! ( as in somewhere ELSE in the house )

Clorine is corrosive as **** !!

One day, you'llbe inspecting a die you haven't used in a while and wonder what cause all the pitting/rust !!

Hummm...Firgot about Chlorine...I wonder what bromide would be like on reloading equipment...???By The Way...Bromide is a substitute for chlorine for those that can't use chlorine....

JSM - I grew up in Hialeah FL and did all my reloading in the utility room. No A/C, just the open windows. Wasn't any problem. Still have all the dies and such I used back in the early 60's.
