Plastic-coated clean. rod, or bore snake for the VZ-58?

This is the first gun since my M-1 Garand which must be cleaned from the muzzle. It had a bore guide.

My impression is that in this situation most people avoid a cleaning rod-- even when it has a plastic coating.

I'm unable to find the bore guide which supposedly came with this Czech Small Arms/Czechpoint rifle.

How can a plastic coating on metal -now and then- damage a steel muzzle?

My vote is for a solid brass one piece rod and buying another bore guide.
