I got a revolver here that I'm keen to source a holster for. Something that I can someday use for competing if I chose. I like my kydex paddle holster for my 1911. It has a release button and it's great. I'd love something similar for the smith but seems there is a lack of kydex offerings, and even less for 3" barrel. I guess i don't mind chopping something down but the design would need to accommodate that modification if so.

Something like this is about the only thing I can find.

Also check out ReadyTac and MasterTac holsters. Both are good holsters and either would be excellent choice for someone switching between IDPA and USPSA. BladeTech also makes one for an N-frame.

My personal preference would be for the ReadyTac or MasterTac, as the BladeTech and the one on your link are cut high across the top of the cylinder. My first holster was a BladeTech, and I ended up taking a dremel to it so it looks more like the Ready/MasterTacs. There's just less unnecessary material on the Ready/MasterTacs that can interfere at the most inopportune time.

The use interface on those websites is less than ideal. Looking at the options to select blade tech there are a zillion attachment options, but the website doesn't seem to explain what all of them are. I just learned what owb meant like 2 weeks ago so I'm a bit lost.

I selected 625 model 3" because it seemed the closest as per carne, although the under lug is a bit longer on that one. They didn't offer 25 models which is technically what I have. Maybe there is a closer option? Then I chose "adjustable paddle" under "attachment". But I have no idea why or what this means.

A paddle isn't a bad way to start, but you'll likely eventually get a StingRay (SR) attachment for more stability on your belt.

Luckily they aren't difficult to switch

I know what a paddle is, but they have different options with paddle in the name and then some other options of letters and symbols that I'm wholly not familiar with. I'll give em a call next week I guess.

They all refer to the style of attachment

Options
1. Adjustable - the cant of the pouch is adjustable
2. Sting Ray (SR) - wide set fixed belt loop

3. Tek Lok - belt loop that opens to slip over the belt, then closes and locks in place

4. D/OS - Drop Off Set - it drops the pouch a bit from the belt line and offsets it out from the body

Thanks 9mmepiphany! Although in this case it's a 45calepiphany.

Are all these attachment styles legal for uspsa and idpa?

Check the IDPA rulebook - AFAIK, the DOS isn't IDPA-legal for men, as it places the holster too far from the body.

yep...page 44: "8.5.1.17.3 For women shooters only, a dropped and offset (DOH) holster may be used." (emphasis mine)
