Looking for plastic, thinking Glock or Sigpro. Hk, I do not think is worth the extra cash. Do not care for the XD's finish. Those that have or have shot both what do you think?

IMO, the HK's might be worth the money. Kind of a hybrid between a 1911 and a Glock. Great gun. If you want a .40 or a .45, the USP might be the best of the bunch. Abosolute reliability. I really regret selling mine.
I shoot Glocks now because they come in 10mm and I can shoot them quite rapidly.
I have a Sig P226, another great gun, but it has quite a bit of muzzle rise for a 9mm. As accurate as an HK.

Glock, be your own armorer. Who wants a sidearm you can't go swimming with? :D

Now you see what you have done?
After answering your post earlier, I went to the local FFL and there on the shelf was a brand new HK USP .40 on sale (because it came with low caps).
It followed me home.
I think HK quality has actually improved in the past few years. I had an Elite that was built in '01 or '02 with match trigger. My new '04 USPf actually has a better trigger, both in DA and SA. It's actually smoother than my broken in Sig. Slide to frame fit is very tight. I have high hopes for this pistol.

My vote is for an FN Forty-Nine (if you like DAO)
or for an FN FNP-9 or FNP-40 (AKA the Browning Pro-9 or Pro-40)

Excellent handguns at fair prices. The quality, ergonomics, capacity, weight...these things are great. They stomach any ammo and never complain. Oh yeah, they are an easy $200 cheaper than a comparable HK.
The Sigpro is closest in price and features while the Glock is a distant 3rd.

I wuv my Forty-Nine.
