I emailed Hodgdon & asked for data for plated bullets.
Here's their response:

The reason we do not have specific data for plated bullets is pretty simple. The plated bullet makes simply advise reloaders to use data for lead bullets with their plated bullets.

So it looks like Hodgdon won't be publishing plated bullet data. :(

I replied to Mike's email; with a quote directly from Berry's website.

Mike,
Thanks for the reply!
I appreciate your time & effort.
But, your response is not quite true.

The quote below is taken directly from Berry’s Bullets website

Plated bullets occupy a position between cast bullets and jacketed bullets. They are soft lead, but have a hard outer shell on them. …

Loading for plated is really “frankensteining a load”.
It’s not quite lead, but not jacketed either.
This is why I’m looking for data specifically for plated bullets.

I'll post again if I get a response.

I cannot find data for Lead 200 G RN configuration? (45 ACP)
I would just use the lead load data for 200 gr SWC bullet to do my work up. Hodgdon, Alliant and Accurate all publish lead load data for the 200 gr SWC bullet.

That's what I thought but the OALs recommended is to short and puts the case mouth way above the ogive. (Rainier 45 ACP 200 G RN)

So...I have sort of settled on a 1.250 OAL. 1st loads were 5.7 G Win 231. They seemed to shoot & function ok. Need to chronograph them.

Well, we do have published load data for plated bullets from Accurate to compare with lead/jacketed load data:

I have used lead data and worked up as needed on all my calibers. I keep the velocity below 1100'/sec. My goal is the lightest load that will shoot accurately. Saves powder and the gun. No issues at all. Thousands of Berry's loaded. All from.

Woohoooo!!! :D

Hodgdon does have SOME Berry's bullet data.
Atleast it's a start.
In 40 or 50 years we should have full plated data!

I was looking for data for Berry's .429" 220 FP
And found reference to "220 GR. BERB FP " in Hodgdon's data.

So I had to figure out what BERB is.
I found it!!! BERB = Berry's Bullets.

I thought we already had plated data. Berry's recommends mid range jacketed data and to stay under 1,200 FPS. I have been using jacketed data out of the manual and on-line for years with plated bullets and it has worked fine.

Rusty - while true, we still have to guess somewhat.
It'd be nice if we saw data like x.x - x.x for some particular plated bullet.
Like I found for Berry's .429" 220gr FP
