Using 3/8" nylon rope, firmly tie the barreled action to a tree. Wrap a bit of chain around the cleaning rod and attach the other end of the chain to the bumper of a pickup.

Drive away. Sumpn's gotta give.

i have to wonder did you ever get it out 19-3ben?

LOL. yeah, I got it out back in february, right after posting this. I found a piece of heavy brass cleaning rod that happened to the threaded the same as the stock mosin cleaning rod. I screwed it onto the rod that was in the barrel, which gave me a ~6inch extension out the back of the barrel and receiver. I was then able to tap on the back of the brass cleaning rod and push the mosin rod straight out. Once I did that, I just unscrewed the brass one.
It sounds more complicated than it was. Meanwhile, the bore of the rifle is still perfect, and she shoots straight as ever!!!
Three cheers for getting away with being dumb!!!!

This happens to me all the time but ONLY with the smaller bores like .204Ruger and my various .223/.224 diameter bores. My solution is to make sure that the patch isn't long enough (big enough) to extend past the narrow neck of the jag. If it can reach the thicker portion of the neck and the patch is large enough, it'll stick every time and make life miserable!
