my son and myself have noticed something strange about our glock 17. when the slide is locked in the open position.a long length of the barrel is exposed . When we look at it from a side view the barrel actually appears to be curved upwards about 10 to 15 degrees in relation to the frame. Are we imagining this or is there a possibility of a misalignment somewhere. has any of you seen this or can u explain this phenomena. is this a safety problem we need to be cautious of.this gun is several months old and has shot maybe 500 rounds. it does tend to shoot high of sight point. what you guys think? :)

Its an illusion, the barrel tilts up at the front, down at the back, in order to separate from the slide so it can cycle the next round... but there is no curve in the barrel.

many thanks 9x19

so i guess what we saw is indeed there. it is good to know this is normal. sorry for the newbie question, but u can't be too carefull right thanx :)

There is a first-generation Glock 17 owned by Chuck Taylor (gunwriter and instructor) which has over 200,000 rounds through it.

You're unlikely to break yours.

That's how the bbl. unlocks from its recess in the slide via being cammed down into the locking block in the frame/receiver.
