I recently purchased some ammo thinking it was 7.62x39.

When I got it home it is not. I cannot identify the ammo.

I have uploaded a pic and the gray round on the far right is a 7.62x39 round.

As you can see the ammo in question is indeed a bit longer but looks like 7.62x39.

The box has 7,62-Kr-52 on it.

Please identify.

Thanks.

Id bet 7.62x51 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7.62x51mm_NATO

.308 in a different length than what you normally see?
Im a complete noob at rifles, but im a good guesser.

possom813- That 7.62x39 pic looks like its on steroids! or at least a high fat diet?

It is a 7.62x45mm. I have 1 round of it. I guess I should buy a Vz58 so that I can use it up.:D

Are you looking to sell/trade it? I've been looking for some 7.62x45mm for my collection. :)

It is a 7.62X45 and it is for the CZ-52 auto loading carbine, these rifles were in service from 1952-1959.

Possum, your cartridges are not labled properly, they should be from left to right-7.92 Kurz, 7.62X39, 5.45X39, 5.8X42

TJ AK-74, The VZ-58 is chambered in 7.62X39 not 7.62X45

This is this! It's not something else, it's this!

Don't pull it if you don't plan to use it, and don't use it if you don't plan to kill!

possum, I'm pretty sure that picture is mis-labeled. IT should read from left to right, 7.92x33mm, 7.62x39mm, 5.45x39mm, ???. There is definitely no 7.62x45mm in the pic. How could the second cartridge from the left be 7.62x45mm if its case length is nearly identical to the 5.45x39mm cartridge immediately to its right?

Not sure what the cartridge on the right is, but it isn't .308 / 7.62 NATO because the bullet diameter isn't even close to the other .30 cal round (7.62x39) pictured.

ETA: I guess someone beat me to it.

Just another confirmation that the OP's ammo is most likely 7.62X45mm for the CZ - 52 carbine.

I just converted mine (CZ rifle) to shoot the 7.62X39 by installing a chamber insert.

That pic looks to me to be a photo-shop of two different pictures taken at different magnification / distance from the object. Thus, I wouldn't be so sure it's mislabeled, it could just be that there is distortion.
