More accuracy, easier on gun, quieter (but not much)

Too few places carry STANDARD velocity ammo. I know it is more expensive, but it shoots SO much better. It is VERY close to match grade for groups. But the selection is so sparse most places.

Try a box on paper and compare with your HS ammo you now use.

I think you'll join my crusade.

I agree!

Since all I do with my .22s is plink and put holes in paper, I don't prefer HV rimfire at all. High Velocity goes supersonic, but then usually drops to subsonic well before 50 yards so it hits a little turbulance effecting accuracy. Standard velocity stay subsonic the entire flight.

I picked up some standard velocity Aguilla from AIM Surplus. Good stuff! Very economical, accurate and quiet. I'm glad I picked up a case of it while they had it.

I'm a bit surprised that you're having trouble finding standard velocity ammo. My local Galyans carries six or seven different types (CCI Standard, CCI Green Tag, Federal Gold Medal 711b, Remington, Winchester T22, RWS.)

Where are you at? Maybe someone can hook you up with a nearby source.

Chris.....

In Sacramento, CA.

LOOKING for the CCI std vel. Plenty of $12 a box Green Tag available.
(and it is GOOD)

But for reglar practice .....AND...my level of proficiency, the cheaper SV CCI would be plenty good.

Only difference between the Green Tag and the Win T22 I was using yesterday in my ........finally.........reworked High Standard was the T22's made about a 3/4-1" larger group at 25 yards from rest.

And BOTH stayed within the 2" Shoot-N-See spots.

BUT........have been advised that the CCI std vel is VERY VERY close to Green Tag.

I get the Remington Value Packs at the local Sporting Goods Store for $9.99 per 525. They've been reliable and accurate as I need them to be in my 10/22 and 22/45. Only problem I see is they are Brass plated lead
