Please recommend a red-dot type of scope

Folks, a friend of mine has an AK with a side rail (I believe it is Romanian) and was wondering what you all might recommend for a decent red-dot scope, for ~50 yards and less. He can't afford an Eotech or one of the high-end $3-400.00 scopes, but doesn't want a $30.00 red dot either.
Do you have any advice/experience, etc. with any mid- dollar range red-dot type of scope that would allow fast target acquisition, that one could mount on a weaver (with the appropriate frame to attach to the side-rail) mount ?

I have an OKO that has held up well under the punishment of 12 gauge slugs. It also has a rudimentary BUIS.

Runs around $200.

No experience with them. But I have heard that they are tough as nails, and pretty reasonably priced.
