Please suggest a fixed stock for an AR-15 rifle with heavy recoil.

I don’t know how much money you want to spend, but an A5 system and a Magpul ACS stock sounds like a good idea to me.

the other option is a Magpul MOE full length stock, spring and buffer weight

$75 puts muzzle threads where once there were none.

Yeah I have a local smith that does the work and he had threaded a 700 for me here recently. The barrel on my 30 RAR is pretty thin past the gas block and I fairly sure it would not support proper 5/8-24 threads, it would require a bit more work to create a shoulder to tighten against. And if I am going to thread it it would get a 51T mount for my SDN-6 suppressor not a break. And an AR-15 with a 22 inch barrel and a suppressor is getting a bit long and unwieldy.

Ultimately recoil mitigation is secondary to getting a nice fixed stock with sufficient length of pull.

I would like to remove the wiggle that most adjustable carbine stocks on buffer tubes produce. I do like the look of the MOE rifle stock.

Magpul UBR. I hate carbine stock wiggle - and UBR’s don’t. The UBR is largely the only telescoping stock favored in Service Rifle because it locks up solid - especially the fixed cheekpiece which is mounted directly to the buffer tube. Gen2’s are also A5 buffer compatible, offering improved recoil impulse - AND with the bolt on Limbsaver pad option AND an extended max LOP exceeding the standard A2 LOP… it checks all of the boxes I can see for your needs.

The CTR lockup isn’t bad, but carbine / telescoping stocks are NOT beard-friendly. I can see where trying a UBR might be in my future….

I run Magpul ACS stocks on mine and never snagged hair. They have a lock and it works well, but wouldn’t mitigate recoil for you. I know the second one I use is also an adjustable carbine, but it knocks down the recoil from my .50 cal muzzleloader and .300 Win Mag barrels sufficiently. Don’t recall the model designation. Not as tight as the Magpul but not a rattle trap either (and cheap).

I put a Magpul UBR and a simms butt pad on my 450 BM. It’s really a nice heavy and adjustable stock.

When I HAD a .50 Beowulf I tried both the UBR and the ACE. Both worked well. Pick your poison. The UBR added some weight though, which was a good thing.

The Magpul UBR is far and away my favorite. Not only do they not wiggle but they don't pull the hair out of your lip either. ;)

And that is why I have UBR's on all of adjustable stocked my AR's now.

The MOE fixed stock is also great on the one rifle I have it on.

That is the stock I currently have on my 30 RAR. It worked good in recoil but is still wiggly like many carbine stocks.
I can't stand wiggly stocks either. I employ a lot of that soft stretchy medical wrap in black or camo if needed, but I also use a lot of the Magpul SL stocks because they have great internal friction locks. And I usually add .70" enhanced rubber buttpads as well.

I have a couple of the MOE fixed carbine stocks and add the correct model PRS buttstocks as well for added length of pull. I am thinking of added a side folding Sylvan or Law adapter to give me just a bit more length of pull and portability. Here's one on one of my 16" .308 ARs as an example.

The 16" .308 doesn't have any appreciable recoil but I have a fairly aggressive 3 port brake on it which can startle the initiated at the range.

@earlthegoat2 was kind enough to let me try his Strike Industries stock. I just mounted it last night so I have not shot it yet but the fits and feel are really nice. The length of pull is very good to. I have the thicker/softer recoil pad on order and that should make the LOP great. I might even have to remove one space when in winter cloths.

ETA: Much to my surprise, give I only ordered it two days ago and it was coming from CA, just after making this post, the mailman delivered the thicker (NOT softer) recoil pad.

This brings the LOP up to a nice 14.5 inches but though it looks like it should be a soft recoil pad that is a thin layer of soft rubber over-molded over a hard polymer base. The length and ergo are nice but its no much of a recoil pad... Got to hope the nice fit makes up for the lack of recoil mitigation. Won't know till I shoot it.

Gee, that is an interesting way to make a thicker recoil "pad". I would suspect some experimentation with different buffers and springs may be in order. Especially with trhe carbine length buffer tube.
