What would be the argument against getting a P9 over a PM9? It would seem that the P9 is as much of a pocket pistol as a hammerless j-frame as comparable by size. I really like the PM9 and will get one but there is a part of me that says that the P9 would be more shootable, versatile and damn near as concealable. Thanks again.

An even better Kahr IMHO is the P9 Covert. It has a additional 1/2" of barrel but the same grip as the PM9. I find mine easier to shoot than the PM9 and the grip tends to be the critical issue when carrying. Take a look at the P9 Covert and see what you think! :)

That is my issue I was wondering if the longer grip would make it more shootable.

I've tried shooting medium-caliber pistols with vestigial grip frames, and I gave up in short order. Sure they're easier to carry, but they're also a lot harder to shoot fast and well. Which is more important? I went with the P9 and haven't regretted it. Unless you're going outside in your underwear it's not that hard to conceal. I'm used to trying to hide a full-sized 1911, so the P9 by contrast is a cinch.

Yes, I longer grip gives you better control. Every choice is some kind of compromise. Only you can decide which is more important.

I would pass on both of them until they get all the bugs worked out. Nothing beats a lightweight snubby yet in reliabilty.

I have both. I find the P9 a lot easier to draw from IWB because of the longer grip and conceals as well as the PM9. I shoot the P9 more accurately at speed. I use the PM9 for pocket carry.

I have a couple 2" J frames and they are reliable.
Ijust have a problem with the grip. My Kahr's only have about 700 rds. each, the only malfunction was with the PM9 when I engaged the mag. release during rapid fire. Kahr sent a new mag. release and after shortening the button, haven't had another problem.

I prefer my TP9 more than my P9 or PM9.

It has the 4in slide, barrel, and teh regular grip frame of the P9.

Excellent reliability, light, accurate, controllable. I enjoy it.

I have the Covert models, and the short grips really twist in the hand.

I really preferred the P9 to the PM9, although I like the K9 even better. For me, the improved handling under recoil instills a great deal of confidence. That being said, I own a PM9 in addition to a K9. It may be harder to handle, but it's better than nothing, and a pocket pistol in a service caliber is nothing to sneer at.

If you're going to carry it on a belt, skip the plastic and get a K9. If it's for the pocket, I'd get the PM9.

I like the MK9. Heavy enough to soak up recoil, not so heavy it can't be easily pocket carried. Mine handles +p+ 9mm all day long.

Best small pocket gun I have ever owned.

The P9 has been out for a few years now. I'd think it's about as "debugged" as it's ever going to get. Kahr already solved the most obvious issues, so anything left will come as nothing more than, ahem, "continuing product upgrades" (to use Glock's language).

I beg to differ. I think it still needs to be de-bugged and for some reason they are very slow to do it. The frame rails have not been fixed or even addressed. The rear of the frame flexed so bad on my P-9 that it caused the trigger to fail to reset when a full mag was inserted. The P-Series still have some major issues that need to be solved before I will consider getting another one.

They need to redesign the frame and beef it up in some spots. I think they will get it right in the next model that they come out with maybe.

That being said, the K-9 is in a class by itself and the TP-9 feels like a gun that was custom made for my hand. I want to get one but I have only seen two of them so far. I will wait until they are a little more common so I can comparison shop or maybe pick up a used one. Maybe Kahr will close them out if they don't sell very well and I can pick one up for a good price. I will owne one because they are sweet feeling.:)

I agree. Love my MK9

It depends on what you are looking for... if you are looking for a pocket gun, the PM9 or a Kel-Tec P3AT is the way to go. If you are looking for concealable in a holster, such as IWB, the P9 should do fine. The P9 is a bit large for true pocket carry tho, if that's your goal.
