Wouldn't a short barrel get you like a two foot fireball muzzle blast?
Tangentially, the relatively rare .25 NAA has ballistics pretty damn close.
To the 5.7x28?
There are only two pistol made for the 5.7 that I know about, the FN and the Excel arms.
Thanks - never saw it before!
I think the "28mm" part probably gets in the way of making a compact pistol. That's a lot of slide travel.
I recall an article where one (of the very few) vendors in the 5.7 market said they tried to make a shorter barrel (than the standard 4.8 inches) and it simply wouldn't work (at least in the actual FiveSeveN design - the spring is as short as it can be).
I will have to see if I can dig it up...
Edit: not the article I was looking for, but an interesting thread:

Of course you can make a gun with whatever length barrel you want, the bullet might just plop out in a large-ish fireball though...
Ah yes, the allure of the unobtainable. I had the same problem with Kathy Ireland.5.45x18 is like a .22lr besides that it can pierce soft body armor. The Russian PSM is my grail gun since they are so difficult to find in the US.
I wonder what the maintenance is on one of those, Hokkmike

There's a local gunshop near me that has one on display as part of his personal collection.
How many Kathy Irelands are there?
