I'm lookign to replace my pocket holster with one that has a reload on board. I've seen the P32 rigs that www.stellarrigs.com offers and they look pretty good. Anyone know of something made out of leather though? I'm considering anything though so kydex or rolled plastic is fine too. Post pics or links if you have them.

Big no no on the Stellar Kydex rig!!!

I have one for my KT P3-AT with the spare mag holder incorporated. It has a tensioning screw, but even with the screw completely REMOVED, the pistol will NOT come out of that holster. It is just molded too "perfectly" and really "snaps" into place. The pocket holster offers excellent, excellent retention to the extreme. Even using a thumb "push off" is non-effective and Kydex won't break in and loosen up like leather. You'll need two hands to draw... One to extract pistol and holster, then weak side hand to rip the holster off. The Kydex material is very slick and will not stay in the pocket. I gave up on the idea of an integrated pistol/spare mag holster. If I need to reload, it's much easier to retain the pistol in my strong hand, drop the mag (or tactical reload) and keep the muzzle on the threat/target. Weak side hand retrieves spare mag from my weak side pocket (left) and gets inserted. At least if I fumble and drop the mag, I still have one round in the chamber on the threat. If and only "if", I counted right... :) But it's better than trying to hand off the pistol to the weak side and accomplish a right-hand reload to my left hand. Too much of a chance with dropping the whole darned pistol!

Scott,
Why not give Stellar rigs a buzz?? From what I understand they are standup type guys...

Now to the question...

I pocket carry everyday...I even make a holster that has a spare incorporated in the holster (The "Wraith")...Do I carry this way?? NOPE sure dont, my daily carry is my Oblivion front and Rear...Never liked the idea of a holster being that "busy" in the pocket...

Some love them and some LOATHE them...That is the natural way of things.. :D

FWIW...two of the better designs that incorporate a spare are:
hedleyholsters.com or
K&D Custom..
Both of the above are members of this board and both are top notch at leatherwork

Mine kicks butt btw :neener:

unpleasant dreams

I pocket carry with a PM9 in strong side and a pair of mags weakside. I have a UM size 4 that I cut off at the grippy part. Two Kahr mags fit in it perfect and just the grip extension sticks out.

Estela216,

I (K&D Holsters) make two variations of a leather holster with a mag holder incorporated. One is our Pocket Defender Plus model, the other is the Pocket Defender Plus 2n1. The 2n1 adds an anti-print panel that snaps on/off the holster. Both models can be seen on our website, www.kdholsters.com.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if I can help in any way. Good luck in your search.

Pocket Holster?

I second the K&D holster for the P-32. Have 2 - one with a spare mag holder and another that just holds the gun.

These holsters conceal the P-32 in everyype of pocket - jeans, slacks, inside and outside jacket pocket.

Reasonablly priced, attractive, durable - I don't think you can go wrong with them.

Uncle Mikes #1 pocket holster is very easy to adapt to hold a spare loaded mag along with the pistol... simply slit the top threads of the stabilizing "wing", between the reinforcements, and insert your mag. Mine has been modified for about 3 years now without any signs of coming completely undone... and this little holster stays put very well.

I've been using a K&D Pocket Defender Plus for my P3AT for about a year and it's worked pretty well. Reloads are not very quick, but at least I have one. There's something to be said for an integrated package like that.

Just keep in mind that your spare mag needs to be accessible with your "off" hand. It doesn't do much good if you can only reach it with the hand holding the gun.

If I need the spare mag for my pocket gun, it's because the gun I'm holding is empty... :scrutiny: At that point, I'll risk holding the empty gun in my off hand while I go for the mag with my strong hand...

Although convenient in theory.....Ill side with Kurt on this one.

Regardless of what hand I have my gun in..weak/strong or otherwise. I want my other hand to have access to my mag. Its a cool idea having them both togethor but just from a "gunners" point of view if I need it, I want it where I can get it. Thats the idea of keeping an extra mag on you, if you cant get to it ..whats the point?

Very cool holsters though..............

Shoot well................

Part of any qualification course is to do a tactical reload. You keep the gun pointed at the bad guy while you change magazines with your weak hand. This is best accomplished be having the magazine in your opposite pocket, or on your belt in a knife pouch.

The Pocket Defender Plus model made by K&D Holsters offers a different kind of carry option and our version is only slightly larger in dimensions than the typical pocket holster. Everyone is not able to devote two pockets for carry of their weapon and a separate mag pouch. However, this style of holster allows you to carry both in the same pocket. I’ve included some unsolicited comments below of a customer who received one of our Pocket Defender Plus 2n1 holsters:

“Late last week I received the K&D holster I won from the KTOG contest (Pocket Defender Convertible 2-in-1 Plus, brown, right hand, for a P-3AT). Thank you very much.

I immediately examined it. I own some leather crafted by both Milt Sparks and Mitch Rosen. Your product is equal in quality with those but more innovative in design. The removable flap for disguising the holster in a pocket and stabilizing it is an important addition. Being able to carry a spare mag in the holster rig, so it is all together, improves convenience. It is beautifully boned and stained perfectly.

I carried my KT P-3AT in it over the weekend in both my front right and rear pockets to try it out. It fit fine, was stable, easy to access, and stayed well concealed. I recommend carrying in a holster like this over the KT belt clip or without a holster because the gun is:

· more stable and secure
· better concealed
· easier to access
· the trigger is protected (safer)
· the whole unit is easy to remove and replace
· re-holstering is easier and more convenient
· you can do what you need with only one hand
· you have a place for a spare mag
· the flap disguises the shape of what is in your pocket
· carrying in a pocket without a holster can be dangerous as well as inconvenient
· and “no holster†carry puts more wear and tear (and dirt) into the gun.

Beyond the functionality, pride of ownership is a welcome consideration. I have always preferred leather over plastic and nylon, and your quality components with excellent craftsmanship make this a holster to show people. What a conundrum: a well-concealed holster you want to show people!â€

We realize that this style of carry is not preferred by everyone. But despite concerns raised about the practicality of a holster with an integrated mag carrier, those who choose it seem to be well satisfied. Holster choice is a very personal decision and everyone has to make their own choices. If you are really interested in a holster with a mag carrier – try one. There are any number of holster makers who make them.

Tactical reloads aren't practical with pocket guns, IMNSHO... fine for the IDPA games, but if I'm down to the pocket gun.... :uhoh:

BTW, weak-hand shooting is also part of most qualification courses... so like I said, I can shift hands if needs be.

.... and you need to reload it your already in a bad enough way as it is without having to start juggling. But, hey if you want one thats your decision. I think Azrael offers a fine product that has been well reviewed on this board, he makes such a holster.

I have to ask, how are you going to carry a extra mag if you are in your T-shirt summer clothes.... in your left pocket? on your belt? showing it to everyone?
I carry with a pocket holster, and can only comfortable carry that way....
K&D rigs are a good ideal, at least you have a spare mag....I would practice changing mags, just like going from strong arm and weak arm.....
I am glad that we have great pocket holster makers out there like K&D, Azrael's, R.J. Hedley that give us a wide choice of quality products....
