Pocket Pistol for Concealed Carry

I have a Keltec P3AT which I use as a pocket pistol. I only use it when my clothing or activity at the time restricts the carry of my glock 19.

I carried the KelTec P11 for a number of years and it was a great shooter but has a loooooonnnggg DA trigger pull. Then came the PF-9 that is a bit flatter and has a great trigger. It is incredibly accurate and has gone bang every time I have pulled the trigger and that is about 1100 times now. For the price it's the best bang for the buck out there.

I take a bit of a different look at a pocket gun. To me a pocket gun is a last ditch and/or deep concealment firearm and as such, your tactics with one change.
I dont really give a rip about caliber, more about size or the gun and range of practical use. If you need a pocket gun, you had better be right up to your target, like barrel in the eye close or else you should have evaded or used your main carry piece. With that in mind, when you are taking the save your ass at the last chance shot with your barrel behind an ear, all it needs to do is fire. I dont see needing 11 rounds in a pocket gun. We talk about if its a small caliber, you want alot of shots on COM, which i agree with if we are not talking pocket guns. Two to six rounds of .38 is enough to end the threat, recover the perps or your own main weapon, and keep fighting if you need to keep fighting. I dont think Id try to engage multiple targets at various ranges with a sub caliber gun that doesnt have sights. AGAIN, this is only a senario when you are completely restricted to a tiny little gun and cannot carry your main weapon as you always should or else not be in that restricted place.

Really this is probably any SD shooting situation, if the perp isn't in your face you don't need to shoot them. If you do plan on being someone's girl friend for 30 to life.

What about the G26 is it too big for pocket carry?

the G26/27 subcompact Glocks are actually pretty thick and still have some length to them. My honest answer to pocket carry is a .38 Derringer.

I carried my Kel-Tec P-11 for 10 years w/o any issues. I put several thousand rounds through it and traded it last month for a new PF9. I have taken my PF9 to the range only once so far but it ate 100+ rounds of Blazer Brass w/o a problem. It shot like my P-11 and was accurate at 14yards. I also have a Kel-Tec P3at. It is a 2nd generation model and works perfectly 100% of the time. It shot perfect out of the box. I pocket carry it with a belt clip.

My Keltecs, .32, .380 and 9mm all worked fine.

But I personally don't carry a .380 as a primary gun, ever.

If you do, then consider the Keltec and the new Kahr in .380.

(I'd pay a little more and get the Kahr PM-9)

380 Kel teck

I like ur thinking Sefus, up close and save ur a... shot, its true u would not need 11-20 shots, just one will do it. caliber at that point don't matter even a 22 will do it. I agree

LCP, after recall, goes everywhere with me. Sometimes with a PM-9 or S&W 442. I also have a Kel-tec .32, Sig 232 (a little big for pocket carry) and a Glock 19 for IWB, amongst many others. Those are the ones I frequently carry.

Highly recommend the Kel Tec PF-9. I have had great results with this gun and it is VERY easy to conceal.

Recently purchased the KAHR CW-40. Also pleased with it so far.

Pocket Pistol?

I personally wouldn't try to defend life and limb with anything less that a .38 special...carry 125 grain silver tips in my S&W 638 and 649s. But then this was about pistols wasn't it? Well guys, my "pocket pistols" are as follows: SIG 239 in 9mm, SIG 239 in .40 S&W, Glock M19 and Kimber Ultra Carry II in .45 ACP. I've never liked the idea of a pistol or revolver in my pants pocket it's just too hard to get the thing into play in an emergency. A coat pocket works for the J frame Smiths. The other stuff is a bit too big to place in a pocket with the Glock being the most bulky. My solution is a DeSantis paddle holster that rides high and is fully adjustable for cant or rake. The holster slips on an off easily. I carry it on my hip right in front of and a bit over my wallet. I also practice my presentation in front of a mirror...pistol empty of course. Pulling the coat back exposes the pistol to plain view and telegraphs my intentions. I find it much better to reach back like I'm going for my wallet and draw the pistol from under and in back of my coat. I travel out of state quite a bit via car and occasionally have to make a rest stop. I figure if I need a pistol this will be the time and the confrontation will likely be over the possession of my wallet. Do the math on the power. Ballistically any of these rounds are much better than anything you can come up with in a .32 or .380.

I carried a KT P3AT for a year before running into reliabilty issues, then went with a Kahr MK9, which was great for reliability but a little heavy for the pocket. My new Kahr PM9 is the best of both worlds, even if it is a little bigger than the P3AT.

I keep the LCP in my pocket all the time. I use buffalo bore ammo. I never leave home without it

pocket rockets...

I'd go with a well made S&W or Taurus 5 shot .38spl +P revolver 1st, ;). If you really want a small pocket pistol look into a Glock model 36 .45acp or maybe a SIG P-239 DAK model in .357sig or 9mmNATO.

Don't buy the cheap junk.
Kahrs are popular but I'm not a big fan.
