Police apologize to Knoxville gun owner for stopping him

I was a Federal law enforcement officer for more than 20 years. If one of my agents had acted like this officer did, he wouldn't have had his badge and credentials long enough to get a good look at them.

Precisely, Hypnogator. And, it seems evident that everyone is wondering the same things here. Why isn't his PD dropping him like a hot rock, or at least disciplining him sternly? And, why are they so reluctant to do so?
It's not so much that it has to do with something "simple" like open carry. It's just a Law Enforcement officer who didn't know the law and made it up as he went.
Granted, he didn't get caught on video calling him "young boy," but does it really take a lawsuit to get some results?
Apparently, it does.
I hope this doesn't happen to me for open carrying. I really don't have time for a lawsuit.

This guy works at a gun range and shop that deals with a good number of Knoxville police as customers and supples a lot of weapons to the police in this area.

Even though he is right, he can easily turn up "not so right" in that if true to form "blue brotherhood" takes hold, his livelihood could suffer.

This is just a fact of life that anyone who challenges police authority has to face. It is not right but it is real.

Before he jumps all over lawsuits and further action against the officer, he should evaluate the situation and decide from there.

I think he is between a rock and a hard place.

Again I repeat, it is not right but real. Not to say he shouldn't go for it and if he did and something good comes from it, that would benefit all CCW holders here in east Tennessee and beyond.

If he chooses not to pursue, he may have made the choice that, in his personal situation, it would do more harm than good.

I'll be fifty in December. In my entire life, I've never seen a bully moderate his behavior because somebody submitted to him. The behavior just gets more aggressive. That goes for the schoolyard bully all the way to Saddam Hussein.
