"this pic sure looks like the fine young mn with the shot gun

and since his family provided it i gotts think it might be him"

I'm telling you right now its not. That guy doesn't even look like Peyton.

I have no reason to lie about being his friend. I'll remember that though when i'm at his house tonight for the candlelight vigil his family is holding.

I didn't know the law stated cops could shoot someone SUSPECTED of robbery once in the head and twice in the chest after they shoot and kill his dog.

I think that the kid probably did not deserve to be shot. However I can understand the police sending a SWAT team over. IF according to one poster in this thread, the kid had a lot of guns and posed with them. But the truth is I think it would have made a lot more sense to try to bring the kid in with a simple knock on the door rather than kicking it in.

Usually a lot less confusion that way. Kid may or may not have answered the door armed. I doubt he would have gotten shot.

Either way this is a major screwup amongst many recent ones in the LEO community.

Spouting an unthinking phrase like "justice was served" is pretty foolish. If the victim of the assault had shot and killed one or both of his attackers, then justice might have been served. Anything after the actual crime requires proof that the suspect was actually the criminal, and that didn't happen.

And the pic of the deceased doesn't look like the guy with the shotgun to me, but that's besides the point.

True, but....

"If this boy would've come to the door, opened the door, we probably wouldn't be talking," the sheriff said.

Sounds like they did that.

In what way was justice served by shooting the dog? I haven't read anything to indicate that the dog was suspected of any wrongdoing.

His roommate is one the right.

He bares looks kind of like the guy on the left of the "show me your guns" picture. Has on a silver watch on the left hand in both pics...but then a lot of people have silver watches.

Here is another pic of the kid that got shot.

Remember, he was 18, a pic when he was 16 or 17 is still ognna be a lot different.

A few facts I have gathered from the local media and other sources.

UNCW campus police asked the Sheriff to help them serve this warrant. The robbery of the playstation occurred on campus , the residence is off campus.

The Sheriffs dept carries 45 H&ks, not sure what UNCW cops carry but I doubt its a 45. This should make it clearer which dept shot what.

Last night the news reported that several guns were found in the house in the bedrooms. I think it was a hunting rifle and a shotgun.

The Sheriff ran uncontested in the last election and is VERY popular. They are a first rate organization in my humble opinion, well worth my tax dollars.

So what's going to happen to me when some jerky neighbor I may one day have
makes a falacious complaint to the local PD that I stole something from him, or
attacked him, or that I'm growing pot in my house?

The cops are going to know that I'm a CCW holder, therefore likely armed.
Even if they decide to knock on my door instead of kicking it in, they are
going to be on high alert, aren't they?

What happens to me then?

The police are bringing highly volatile deadly force to people simply accused of a crime.
How can anyone be allright with that?

The same ones that are OK with the SWAT team blowing away an old lady in Atlanta. They had a Legal Warrant. That makes it all right.

I'm wary of saying anything about justice being served, considering that we are all innnocent until proven guilty, and even then I don't support death for theft.

It seems like the police blundered and were too quick on the triggers. And what if they had got the wrong address?

CR

Since nobody has a clue what happened, but we're all prepared to call each other names over what we're guessing happened, I'm closing this.

This thread is about 10% facts, and 90% people trying to justify whatever their preconceived notions are.
