They just can't catch a break. I'm glad my University allows me to keep my guns in my car. But carrying while in class is a whole other issue which I would hope to one day get.

What is the THR content here? We are not simply a repository of bad news, even if a gun was involved.

2 Dead in Blacksburg on VT Campus....

2 people one Police officer and one other unidentified person have been shot and killed on the VT campus in Blacksburg. As many of us know tin 2007 this was the scene of one of the worst on campus shootings in the nations history.

They are currently fighting a lawsuit alleging that VT did not alert the campus and surround area fast enough after Seung -hui Cho shot his first victim in a dorm 2 hours before he killed 30 others.

They now have one of the most advanced campus warning systems in the country. They responded quickly today and locked down the campus. Teachers, students and facility were alerted quickly, reports say within minutes of the shooting, via email text messages and robocall.

This is clearly a THR related topic as VT has been at the center of the guns on campus debate. It will be interesting to see if todays events move us closer or further away from concealed carry on VA college campuses and campuses all over the country. I am sure both sides of the issue will be voicing their opinions loud and clear in the next 72 hours. I am interested to hear how THR members think this will effect the current guns on campus debate.

Not until there is clear information on what exactly happened here. Til then it's speculation and there is enough of that in the media already. For all we know it was a criminal on the loose who just happened to be near campus.

A Virginia Tech police officer was shot shortly after noon during a traffic stop in the Coliseum parking lot
