You have to look at places like J&G Sales, Southern Ohio Gun, etc., and other, smaller places all around the country. You need to have a local FFL you do transfers with on hand so you can order through him/her.

These kinds of deals rarely show up in classifieds or on Gunbroker/etc.

Your best bet will be to get to know an officer with the department that is trading in their guns. A lot of the time what will happen is the department will give the officer the opportunity to buy thier current duty weapon at a discounted price when they get their replacement instead of trading it in. If you are in pretty good with one of those officers, they you can simply see if he would be willing to buy the gun and sell it to you. My brother is a trooper and offered me his 45 Sig since he could buy the gun at only $375. I dont like Sigs so I didnt bother. A buddy of mine is about to have to trade in his G22 for the Glock 357 Sig and he can get me his old Glock for around $350. I just might take him up on that one. Good luck.

Cabela's sells them too... They had a sale on them not too long ago... Glock 19's with 3 mags...cheap. If you have one near you, many police departments trade there.

Not all departments have that Buy Back policy. You just got lucky. Good for you,

I don't know whats around you but I have ran across some in the local shops around here. You might want to check out prices online first then see whats available locally. Figure out whether your better off paying sales tax or with the shipping & transfer costs.

There's a website that specializes in police trade ins. I think it's interstatearms.com.

jem375, are you miliar with the FBI's experience with the 1076 and why they pulled them out of circulation?

Isn't this a classic definition of a straw purchase?

Isn't this a classic definition of a straw purchase?

not exactly. You can not buy a gun for somebody who is prohibited from buying it for them self. He would not be prohibited by law from buying it, only by policy. I do not know how long you would have to hold it to make it not look fishy, but as long as both people are legally able to own a gun, I do not see the issue.

Carried a lot shot little....

A few examples in each batch are like new.

Most of the time you see holster wear and then you open it up and its almost brand new. If you can inspect them in person there are good deals to be had.

If you are buying site unseen best to get photos or order from a very reliable source.

Can a C&R get the price, but then use a local 01 FFL to do the transfer?
Yes. I have a C&R account, and I can see the prices for all of the merchandise, not just the C&R stuff. Same with Century Arms.

CDNN almost always has lots of used pistols in their catalog, I'm guessing the only way to buy big lots of individual used guns would be to buy from police departments.

The issue is a straw purchase. You may not purchase a gun for another if they are reimbursing you for it. I do not think there are any exceptions to the rule except in the case of gifts.
