tonight at a local football game i spotted a county patrolmen with a stainless .380/9mm gun about the size of a keltec(not a keltec) ,as what seemed to be his primary weapon, very strange other officers have Glock 23's so i was confused

He was probably a detective having to wear a uniform for a game so he was carrying the lightest thing he can find.

Probably a volunteer/unpaid reserve that has to buy his own weapon and bought the cheapest one he could find.

It's possible that he has a S&W Model 3913. These are very popular with off-duty police in the Maryland, Virginia area.

Why didn't you ask him? Most police officers will discuss their firearms with you with no problem. Unless you find an arse hole. Then you just thank him (politely) and walk away...

Yup. Whenever I'm working multiple car accidents or any call that will take a while to finish, people always pop gun questions here and there...Maybe it's a Georgia thing

Sounds like a walther TPH to me. 22LR caliber. Also, could be a kahr MK9.

Detonics made the Pocket Pal in 9MM a decade or so ago. Stainless, straight blow back delayed by a chamber with expanded case mouth diameter - like some submachine guns.

Anyway, it was a football game. Not much need for 19 rounds of 9 out of a 5 inch barrel, two mags for reload, etc. If you've already put in a full day, running light gear can be nice.

could be for any reasons, we have a deputy constable now that carry a small .380 he was hurt recently in a T/A and hurt his back so they have him on light duty doing court house runs picking papers up things like that until he can return to full duty. the duty belt with full size weapon and thing put to much stress on his back. In my department we don't allow deputies to wear a uniform at all if they are on light duty but each department can make thier own rules about these things.

Be safe
