Thinking of possible missing pieces in my collection, and got to wondering if anyone had seen Polish "Wanad" P-83's imported into the country. I remember seeing one - once - at Empire Arms some years back, but it dissappeared pretty quickly. Has anyone ever run across these from any distributor?

Yes, there was a guy importing new ones a few years ago. I almost bought one to round out my eastern bloc pistol collection which started with five Makarovs. :D

I forget the name of the importer, but he was a one man shop I think. I'll have to do some research.

Not sure if any are still in the pipeline, but they do pop up now and then on the auction sites for big bucks.

You'll find one, they come up now and again on gunbroker. Priced around $500 average. They are nicely finished, but don't have as nice a trigger pull as most Makarovs, and have absolutely no support for spare parts or customizing, so it becomes a "wallhanger" type addition to a collection. I had one, and it shot very well, very accurate, but it was just more practical to pack a PPK or PM for personal protection (did you like than alliteration?).

I have wanted one also just hard to find. Would be nice to see them come in again.

Anyone have any guess why they are so rare, since they are/were a standard military and police issue sidearm? Maybe Poland didn't surplus many? Or Poland has some export restriction (they do on their Wist-94 9mm, if I recall correctly)?

I think they are still in use, so they haven't surplussd many at all. The Radom plant made some for import here in the 90's, but I believe the plant is now out of business.

And got my order in already.... Thanks for the heads up :)

This look to be the army variant, rather than the police or eagle version. I'll post pics when it arrives...l

And, by the way, thanks again for taking the time to post this Igor_60. That's what makes THR such a great forum...

picked mine up the other day. Shoots great. So glad they have started to bring these in for the american pistol shooters to enjoy.

Old thread, I know.

I believe these are the same pistols being offered over on Mdshooters.com for $225 now.

I didn't know much about them, but the vendor selling these donated one for the big annual shoot in MD and I won it. It seems pretty well made.

You might have to be a member at MDS to get that price.
