Does anyone have experience with putting a coat of wax on brass using a vibratory tumbler with ceramic media and nushine? If so can you please let me know your results and formula. Thanks!

Ceramic media is too abrasive for brass, I would not recommend using it. Go back to the proven corn cob and walnut hulls.

The ceramic media is hard and will not allow the car polish/wax to be absorb into it like soft media.

If you want to use the ceramic media do a separate cycle using the NuFinish with corncob meda.

In any case you need to make sure you have all the ceramic dust removed from the surface of the brass. Not doing so will wear out your dies faster.

I have ceramic pyramids I use in a vibratory tumbler to clean, among other things, rusted steel fasteners. They do such a good job I think they would shred brass cases. Someday I’ll test them.

Years ago I had a Lyman kit that came with ceramic media and molybdenum powder for coating bullets.

I never used the media on cases but it made bullets look like little black mirrors. Too bad the extra effort made them less accurate than doing nothing..

Back before stainless media became popular, ceramic media was the "in thing" with the BPCR shooters.

I used it wet in a Thumlers Tumbler. No ill effect on .40 and wider case mouths. Smaller case necks and it would sometimes bridge and was a PITA to get out. I limited my tumbling to around 1hr, because it will wear brass over time. It worked great for cleaning, but not to well on the primer pockets due to the size.

Haven't tried ceramic tumbling media in many years. It will clean quickly but leaves a dull, matte finish. Too aggressive for case cleaning. I guess if one tumbled long enough it would remove some brass, but I believe that would take days. I do use hard resin media from Harbor Freight (3/8" pyramids) on some applications but not 100% for brass. I use it straight for derusting, descaling tools and metal parts, but I will also add some to my corn cob blast media for cleaning cases, mebbe 10-15%. This with a bit of auto wax cleans quickly, and will shine up brass if one wants.

This is great! Thanks for all of the advice and sharing your experience with me!
