I keep my Springfield XD9 (holstered) wedged between the box spring and mattress: it’s tucked in up to the top of the holster which leaves the grip of the gun totally accessible. The pressure of my body keeps the holster in place while allowing me easy access to the gun which can be withdrawn reliably from the holster everything.

BTW, I removed all grease/lubricant from ALL door hinges in the house: both the internal and external doors so each door squeaks LOUDLY when opened. Any door opened (even slightly) wakes me up :what:

.

I prefer to have it in something that covers the trigger guard. Doesn't have to be a holster, and sometimes it's a pocket holster. But I want the trigger protected.

Mine is in a keypad entry handgun safe in my nightstand. I will have to be awake by the time I punch in the code and open the door.

Mine is holstered and placed on the nightstand in the exact same position each night. When I am half awake and reacting to something, muscle memory will get me to grab the gun... but I will need to be more alert to clear leather, so the holster acts as a safety (my gun doesn't have a manual safety and there is always a round in the chamber).

Bedside gun, in my opinion, should be free and clear. I say this because at night, God forbid, something goes wrong and you are just up from deep sleep, you dont want to fumble with holster etc. you want to aim and shoot and knock down the intruder! No questions asked.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I stopped sleeping with my M9 when I left Iraq. Now it sleeps in the night stand drawer.

Jut a guess, but I think he was kidding...

For me:
No more kids, no more cats :)

When I carry it, I use a holster. Bedside, no holster.

I sleep with my m&p 40 in the holster but with the holster unsnapped so that it is easily gotten to but is still safe. The gun is positioned so i can grab it with one hand while still laying in bed.

no

glock g21, bedside no holster. fell asleep with my unsheathed randall one nite, i just love the feel, woke up bleeding. talk about dumb.

If I can't get this free from the holster then there's no way that I would be able to even aim the pistol....

I sleep with a pillow under my gun, Just kidding, no holster try to position it the same way, and I put it right in front of the alarm clock, so I have a rough idea of where it is.

My bedside gun is a Springfield XD. I use the cheap holster that came with it with the tension screws unscrewed almost all the way. I can easily flick the holster off with my trigger finger if I need to.

I have my M&P40 unholster with tactlight mounted on a stand beside my bed along with my M4gery carbine , my early warning system are 7 pomeranians . You can't get with a 1/4 mile of my place without them sounding off , heck they even scare the UPS driver :neener: (They think they are minature timberwolves )

I make it a point to remove my Sig226 from it's holster before I go to bed. However, also within arms reach, I have a holstered .38 and a 12ga.

The way I figure, if I wake to intruders in my house I'm going for my Sig first and then the shotgun.
If I wake to someone attempting entry I'm going for the 12ga.
The .38 is hidden as a S-completely-HTF last ditch line of defense. Not counting the dog and my really really bad attitude I will have upon finding you in my house uninvited at 2am.
