Support a Senator who like her guns!

Hi guys, I used to be a member of an old forum THe Firing line, I knew this place has existed for some time, but I have been filling my time with tryiong to figure out what archery is all about. But I still have the dire urge to let the individuals in areas that can make a difference see how we feel. SO if you feel inclined, go to this article and vote. It is a chance to vote for a Democratic senator who wishes to keep her guns and is getting flack from her constituents about it.

By the way, if the numbers are like they were when I voted, you will like the results./

I like that she had no problem admitting that she was willing to use the guns for defense if necessary. That's a nice touch from a major political figure.

It's reassuring to see the results of the poll listed as to how do you feel about her having guns. About 2200 responses and only 81 responded with something other than "I have no problem with it". Keep in mind Newsday is a Long Island paper. Long Island is not known for conservatism. I wonder what Congresswoman McCarthy thinks of this?

Hell, if they are that terrified of guns, the Somalian pirates are missing a big opportunity to hold NYC hostage for, say, a trillion dollars.

I'd consider it myself but I couldn't stand the congestion.

In her latest interview, she spouted the Democratic party line - "we won't take your hunting guns, but ..."

Chuckles was standing behind her and he probably had a gun at her back. And she knows that if she wants to be nominated and elected to the Senate job, she better quit the NRA and back the administration's plans for a ban on everything except maybe single-shot shotguns. The Democratic party is zero tolerance; their people stick to party policy or else!

The link didn't work but if this is about the young lady who replaced HRC in the US Senate she was barely seated before announcing a coming change in position on gun control. I wouldn't be too quick to jump on her band wagon

As a lifelong NYer myself, I must say that Senator Gillibrand sure is a breath of fresh air! I hope she 'sticks to her guns' on 2A issues. I can't remember the last time we had a pro-2A U.S. Senator in this state.

Knowing that this thread will probably get locked for being political, I just wanted everyone to know exactly how the Democrats in NY work.

Gillibrand has always been a pro gun Democrat.

NY Governor Patterson (whom is Gov. by default BTW) appointed Gillibrand as HRC's replacement, Legal and binding.

He then caught tons of flak from the liberal NY'ers about Gillibrand being pro gun.

He has recently announced he will hold a special election in the springtime for the seat that Gillibrand vacated.

The NY Democratic party has already stated that they will be supporting blowhard McCarthy in the 2010 election. That leaves Gillibrand swinging in the breeze as she surely can not mount a campaign without funds to back it.

This is actually one time I feel sorry for a Democrat. They think nothing of throwing one of their own under a bus.

I think it would be hilarious if she changed parties and ran as a Republican when the seat is open for election in 2010.

Funny thing is how they will also not be backing Gov. Paterson in the election and will be backing Cuomo.

I heard on Fox news that she has changed her position on gun control. Now she goes with the Democratic party line (ie the Shumer view). Shumer was hoping that she might change her view on this issue when she learned a bit more about the urban plight from his perspective.

So she's pro-2A...she's still a Democrat, which translates to "intellectually dishonest sack of ____". There are other issues in politics than gun control.

Looks at Triggerhappy's comment. Thinks of all the previous trgrhpy comments he agreed with.

I'm sorry, some people can't support a party that wants to deny the existence of homosexuals & their rights or illegalize the right of women to abort.. {rantoff}

sorry about politics guys.

I have become disenchanted with both parties.

Then hit it!

Do you feel comfortable with Sen. Kirstin Gillibrand owning rifles?
-I have no problem with it
-I don't care, but how does her husband feel?
-Why does she need guns?
-It's insensitive to gun violence victims

From the Article...
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) has moved the two rifles that she kept under the bed to protect her upstate New York home, her spokesman said Monday.

"Given that the location of the guns has been disclosed, they have been moved for security reasons," Gillibrand's spokesman Matt Canter said.

She relocated the guns over the weekend while upstate to endorse Democrat Scott Murphy in the March 31 election to replace her in the 20th District, he said.

He also said Gillibrand, mother of a 5-year-old and an infant, kept the ammunition separate from the empty guns, and then later called to add that the rifles were locked in a case while stored under the bed. She had refused to describe her gun safety measures.

If you ever get a chance, watch the movie "The Mouse That Roared"

I live in NYS and although she isn't the best she sure ain't the worst. We just have to keep her constantly aware of our feelings. Whata ya gonna do?

it is very sad that the Media roast her only because she dares to own guns and is willing to use them if need be all of that while she is not ashamed of it.

more power to her.

I voted and am glad to see almost everyone is on her side.

If the guns are actually stored as she said they won't be of much use if she ever needs them. I don't blame her for making that statement to appease the liberals and imagine she actually has them stored where they will do some good. Personally I would have told the media to go pound sand but then I don't have to worry about being elected to office.

What causes people to even ask these types of questions?

It is around 6,000 - yes to 100 - no. It appears that very few THRers have even voted on this.

I voted that it didnt bother me. Cause it doesnt. Since when is owning guns insensative to "gun violence victims"? Thats like vehicle ownership being insensative to someone whos been in a car accident.
