After screwing up the last attempt at posting a poll, I eventualy got my ducks in a row and got it done correctly.

So once again......

Aside from caliber preference, what polymer frame service platform have you selected that is most suitable for your CCW/SD/HD requirements?

Unfortunately, only sixteen options are permitted in the poll and I tried to represent every possible major manufacturer so it is possible that I missed a few.

Walther P99 AS, 9mm. I thought all the jabber about 'ergonomic grip' was baloney... but it sure seems to be a pretty great fit for my hand.

I think the question itself is misleading from what you are asking. When I think "service" pistol I think of something of medium to large size with a larger capacity that is durable and reliable and suited as an police officer's/military sidearm. The large grip makes it easier to draw quickly, the additional capacity adds to capability, and the greater weight and size reduce recoil and muzzle jump.

These benefits however are not what is ideal for concealed carry. So what one thinks of as the best service pistol might not mean it would be the choice for carrying undected. For concealed carry how many hundreds of thousands of rounds can be fired, or years it will last is less important, so durability is less important (still important, but less so). Concealability with a smaller length and grip outweighs the advantages of the larger frame. Reduced capacity often results from reduced dimensions. Reduced weight enables it to be carried longer in more places, but also increase recoil and muzzle jump.
One still wants to retain high quality, but some sacrifices are made to fill other roles.

So what is best in one circumstance or one individual's lifestyle is not necessarily a "service" pistol at all. So which one they think is best might not be the question your meaning to ask.

I'm sorry to be the one breaking it to you, but...there's not poll:neener:

Anyway, my preference lies with the Walther P99 and Glocks. I don't have a Walther myself but it is one of the finest handguns I've ever shot. (I do have a Glock 17 though and love it)

Hmm...I just tried it and it's pretty easy to post a poll. What's your problem? Perhaps somebody can help you? And make a multiple choice poll, I can't vote for only one gun :D

Another Vote for the Walther P99 AS. I love the way this guns feels and shoots.

Silvanus,

Yeah, saw that.

Gave up after the second time 'cause the computer was having fits and I was getting a headache.

So much for that little endeavour....:banghead:

easy..

I don't need a poll to know that my pick is Glock, and if you want specifics I'll say the Glock 22. It's the most verstile of all the models, whether for SD, HD, and all around CCW. It's lightweight, easy to carry, can be converted to 9mm, .357sig, and even .22lr with a conversion upper. In .40S&W it's the choice of many law enforcement agencies, and is completely reliable, powerful, and near maintenance free to keep going strong.

Walther P99 AS

Walther P99c AS.

It's young,
It's pretty,
And can't possibly be beat
