it is amazing that the gauranteed winner of this poll is a design that is almost 100 years older than all the ones that will lose.

1911 is the only large caliber handgun that i will carry for my ccw.
 
I voted "other" as well. I'd grab my P226 if it had to be a handgun. (Haven't picked up my XD45ACP yet, so that may change in time.)

If the question is truly which "weapon" I would chose it wouldn't be a handgun at all if I knew I was going to need a gun.
 
My current weapon of choice is the SR9, as it's the only pistol I have at the moment... It's a great gun, and wouldn't trade it for the world.

I would like to get an M9 and a 1911 in the future though. I've shot the M9 many times while I was in the Navy, so it's in by default, it's a great gun..

I've never shot the 1911, but a gun used that long by Uncle Sam can't be bad :)

Sorry for not specifying, but I figured since we're in a Handguns: Autoloaders, just pistols would be appropriate. Also, I did not include other handguns and just put in other because I am heavily biased... :neener:
 
I'd be curious what your rationale was for the models you picked.

Of those you included... The 1911, hands down.
 
the H&K USP .45 is what I carry. I remember when i first got my permit, I walked into Wal*Mart. I felt my freedom in full force.
 
If I had the money, an HK would be sweet. But since I'm a realist, I like the XD's, own one and love it.
