I would like some help or advice from some knowledgeable AR shooters. I bought a like new Colt AR15(pre ban-no sear block) that shoots great but has the worst trigger pull I have ever seen in a riifle. It is a very rough gritty feel and must break about 9-10 lbs. This is not conduicive to accurate shooting. My question is there an easy way to remove the factory parts, polish the internals without changing any angles and possibly replace the factory sear and trigger springs; or is it best to spend the hundred bucks or so to buy a complete drop in trigger assembly like "Rock River's"? I am fairly handy and am able to disassembly and assemble and can follow instructions. Please help me out guys!:banghead:

There are 2 sources on ARFCOM
Legal Transfers sells the RRA 2 stage for $88 shipped. Pete is excelent to deal with.

There is another guy who has good reviews. You send your FCG to him and let him do his magic. I think he is under $30 including return shipping. I have not heard anything bad about him. You have to do a search cuz his name escapes me at the moment.

There is a spring kit on gunroker for $30 or so. They claim to work. But I dont know if any reviews are available.

My understanding is the surfaces that engage on the FCG are hardend. It does not go deep into the metal. Many have tried to polish and removed the hardening. Works great first 100 or so rounds. Then the trouble starts. Exsecive wear begins. Resulst range from runaway guns to catostrophic failures. YMMV

If...and I stress if you know what you are doing then by all means go for it.
Cheapest fix is to shoot the pi$$ out of it and it will slicken up. AR's aren't know for their triggers.

My advice is only worth what you payed for it. I build AR's as a hobby and have zero profesional training.

I suffer from trigger related OCD.

One AR has the Rock River match 2 stage. I can live with that.

Another has a Rifle Basix trigger that I installed myself. That one isn't satisfactory but is likely related far more to my installation rather than the product.

BTW. Drop-ins don't.

Google White Oak Armaments. They sell a tuned RRA.

I installed a JP single stage on mine that I like very much, but it is a range gun.

You can also google for the AR-15 trigger job pdf. It involved polishing the sear surface and bending and cutting legs off the springs.

I've also got the JP on a range rifle, very good trigger. I shot one with the drop-in McCormick and it was pretty decent also.
