I was looking into ranges that are close by where I live that have some good pistol, and long range rifle ranges. One of the closest is the Port Malabar rifle and Pistol club. Anyone here a member of this range or attended it? I'm wondering if it's worth the $200 for the first year.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but I didn't see anywhere else that stood out as better.

I've been there several times, shooting IDPA matches. It's dominated by shotgunners (nothing wrong with that if it's what you're into). It's a well run range with lots of room.

I live in Viera and chose the Titusville range - http://www.titusvillegun.com/ - off SR46 over Malabar. Titusville is geared more toward rifle and pistol, which is all I shoot. For me, the big advantage is that, if you're a member and they get to know you, they'll let you use one of the many action-pistol ranges if you want to practice your combat competition skills or chronograph loads or if you don't want to have to worry about calling the range "cold" every time someone wants to change a target.

Check out their monthly schedule. Lots of matches.

It's $10 per visit or $100 per year with a small sign-up fee.

I try to get up there every Tuesday morning.

"It's dominated by shotgunners" John, that was some time ago. I would like to think we are much more balanced these days.

I think its a great range - I am out there every week. Usually rifle, some pistol on the action ranges. Garand matches, NRA Highpower, F Class matches every month. Also 100/200 yard covered range.

I think the first year will cost a bit more, but only $100 every year afterward. You get your own gate key (electric gate!) and it is open from 8am to dusk every day. One of the very few 600 yard rifle ranges available in FLA.

Thanks for the information, I'll have to look into both ranges and see which one is closer to where I live, and offers the facilities I would like.

I am not a member, but...

my son and I have shot a few multigun matches there while attending the Orlando Shot Show. Always welcomed in, always had great fun and always invited to hangout with some of the crew afterwords. If I were living in the area it would be my club. YMMV.

Malabar IDPA

I am a member of TSSA in Miami when does Malabar shoot their IDPA matches
some of our guys were thinking about driving up and joining them for a match.
