It looks more like the "non-business" end of a factory mag release. Hence the broken/disconnected spring comment. This would allow the mag release to protrude from the right side of the frame as shown.

It's not a gen 4. The mag catch is reversible like the gen 4, It's not the older style ambi mag catch that used the cut in the front of the mag.

I had a gen4 17 for a short while. It looks to me like a definite gen4 mag release installed on a gen3 somehow. I'm no glock aficionado, however. Previous aftermarket mag releases looked completely different.

what it looks like is a gen 3 frame, with the grossly oversized gen 4 mag catch.

How is it grossly over-sized? I loved it. I've seen some grossly over-sized, extended aftermarket mag releases on 1911's. I even had one for a brief time until I ejected a mag while reaching for my wallet. I doubt that the new gen4 glock mag release would cause such a problem.

I sure hope the Gen4 subcompacts DO have the smaller frame with additional backstraps. It WILL make the difference in my purchase (or not). The GLOCKS just don't FIT me, with the exception of the Gen4's, which are a WHOLE NEW BALLGAME, and fit me WELL.

It's hard to be spoiled with the fit/point of a HiPower, then go to the blockyness of the Glock (for me) but the Gen4 is almost PERFECT. I was skeptical, but turned out to be shocked and surprised!

NOW, if they just get a Gen4 subcompact to fit (Me, the wife, etc) the same way...I'll gladly spend my $$$!

If I am not mistaken, the slide would be marked GEN 4 after the model number, and on the right side of the frame would be the letters MBS indicating multiple back strap. Haven't heard about the G26 arriving yet in Gen 4 version. If you haven't seen it yet check out this. Shows a G22 Gen 4 being fired and close up. Don't know how to hot link yet.
