Hello everyone, I recently purchased this rifle from a friend who was short on cash. It is a post 64 1894 in 30-30 that dates to the early 70’s. I figured it would make a fun project and with everything else in the gun world being priced into oblivion it was within my budget. The finish on this thing is rough and I have been toying with the idea of having it cerakoted and making it my rain gun for deer season. I removed the god awful side mount scope and have to replace the empty screw holes and the rear sight which is missing.

Does anyone know what screws are missing and or have any recommendations for a replacement rear sight.

I would recommend simply looking up the rifle at the Numrich gun parts website (https://www.gunpartscorp.com/) to look at/order the screws or original rear sight. Also, Marble Arms sells excellent sights for many rifles, including yours. Just might take a while looking through their website which isn't laid out very efficiently. Still, I got a wonderful tang-mounted peep for my Henry Big Boy.

Screw size is most likely #6-48 or #8-40 tpi. If you are after a peep sight, the Williams Foolproof or 5D model for your firearm are a good useable sight ( not sure on the 5D). If you are concerned about the small peep it can be removed (unscrewed) which leaves a bigger opening almost like a ghost ring sight. Good luck.

Thank you guys for the help. I found everything I needed on homesteadparts.com. I decided against a receiver sight and ordered a conventional sight off of ebay.
