No matter where you live your cats rights end at your property line. I live in the suburbs and strays are somewhat a problem. I use live traps to control the cat/racoon population "in my yard" but I would most likely shoot ferals in the woods.

We never let our cat out and it has worked well for us.

I killed two cats last season that were as feral as cats get. They were miles from any house - my dogs treed them while coon hunting.

One was solid black, 20 pounds of pure muscle and bobtailed. Looked like a small black bobcat. He took a lot of killing too. He had obviously been making a living in the wild for some time.

I was squirrel hunting a few years ago on my Ike Walton farm. This place is 500+ acres and I saw a cat out there. If it was a house cat it was well outside of its usual range. I did not shoot it, but after thinking about it, I probably would. I have two cats at home, but they are indoor here in the suburbs. Cats just don't belong out in the woods.

Dogs have to be licensed and leased,
CRAP, all these years I've owned mine. Didn't know about that option. ;)
while cats can rome and kill anything they want.
In FL your "house cat" must be collared and have its shot up to date. If it is running loose and get caught by the county you pay the fees to have it returned or it sits in "kitty prison".

If your cat is on my property it becomes one of two things, mine or feral. It is legal to humanely dispatch feral cats in FL. Since I have cat allergies guess what my choice is. :)

Am I bragging, NO. Am I glad that I'm doing my part in wildlife preservation, you bet I am.
