It's 'duct' tape.

Pilgrim
Trivia for today....

Actually there is "duct" tape (owned by 3M corporation)

but there is also "DUCK" brand duct tape (I have a roll sitting right here) that simply says duck-tape.

Back on topic, follow the advice given where people tell you to keep your mouth shut. Your friends and relatives should do the same ESPECIALLY to the cops (who are looking for guilt or evidence) and the Press (who are looking for sensationalism).

As an additional question, failure to be indicted by a grand jury is kind of meaningless in this situation, right? A district attorney could always re-attempt to obtain an indictment in the future, right?

Just ask Tom DeLay, former US Congressman/Majority Leader from TX. Prosecutor Ronnie Earl grand jury "shopped" about 6 times trying to get DeLay indicted. Grand juries 1-5 refused to indict. Grand jury #6 saw things differently.

Rights Card

On the back of my attorney's card:

My lawyer has told me to not talk to anyone about my case, to not answer questions, and to not reply to accusations. Call my lawyer if you want to ask me questions, search me or my proerty, do any lineups, or any other I.D. procedures. I do not agree to any of these things without my lawyer present and I do not want to waive any of my constitutional rights.

Hand that over and keep quiet until you speak to your lawyer.

...He suggested the notepad and camera to record: time of incident, time of LE arrival, names and contact info for witnesses, and all responding officers,...
Is this suggesting that the responding officers will wait patiently and refrain from putting you in cuffs, until you have written down all of their names?!?! I seriously doubt you will be given that courtesy!

I agree with previous comments. "Duck" tape is definitely the best type of tape to use on ducks.

the back of my card reads

IF STOPPED BY THE POLICE
  1. Don't resist. Be Polite.
  2. But, be careful what you say. It can be used against you.
  3. Ask if you are under arrest. If not, you should be allowed to go.

IF ARRESTED
  1. Do not try to explain. Do not give a statement. Do not sign anything.
  2. Demand a lawyer right away.
  3. Do not talk to anyone about your case until you have talked with your lawyer.

It gets handed to law enforcement surprisingly frequently, and gets the job done.

I have cards in Spanish, too!
