Powder choice for 7.62X25 Sabots aka .223 Timbs

Please don't use my load figures, these were worked up carefully using special plastic bullets and are not suitable for normal bullets.

I'm trying to work up some max loads for 55gr remington SP bullets loaded into 5gr sabot sleeves in the 7.62X25 out of a CZ52.

With the factory powder (from recent production S&B 85gr ammo) I had to increase the charge about 30% (working up carefully) to get the pistol to cycle and that is still a low pressure load with no signs of pressure on the fired primer.

Using alliant unique the pistol barely cycled with about 20% over book (for a normal 85gr bullet) and 30% over it cycled OK but that is the casing full to the rim. Both of these loads are fairly low pressure but physically too much powder and make seating difficult so I need to find a faster or lower volume powder to work up some full pressure loads.

I'm thinking I'll buy some accurate #5 and try that but I'm open to other suggestions. I have bullseye and tightgroup on hand but my manuals don't list any of the fast powders for this round so I'm shooting in the dark with those.

If anyone has sabot data for 7.62X25 or .30 carbine it would great.

If you have checked accuracy at all, you'll find they are nearly impossible to group, especially if using the self loading aspect of the pistol. It's an exercise in futility because the sabots will not stay concentric.
I would try to find a Bullseye load for the 30 Luger or 30 Mauser to work with, as you need a fast powder to work. Those cases are very similar to the 7.62x25 but loaded to lower pressures. If I was doing it I would try 3.0gr of Bullseye, but that's just me, and I would load single shot for accuracy.

Titegroup

I would give Titegroup a try. It meets your criteria of faster burning and bulk.Some of the posters on this forum have had good results using it in the 762x25.Be very carefull because another member has done in depth testing of the CZ 52 and has warned that they are not as strong as some people think.

I'll be watching with great interest.

A few years back, I expended a lot of lead and powder working with the 30 cal/.22 sabots, (from several different manufacturers) in 30 Carbine, 7.62X39, 7.62X25, .308 and 300 Savage.
I could make them cycle semi auto's, fly fast and even feed well in my mod. 99 and FN-FAL, but I never could make them accurate or consistant. The best 5 shot group I got was just under 4 inches @ 25 yards out of my CZ-52. The 30 Carbine, in an H&R handi-rifle, would occasionally do a bit better @ 50 yards, but not consistantly.

Lighter (relatively) charges of faster burning powders seemed to hold out the best hope, but in the end I just stopped messing with the whole sabot idea.

If you found an accurate sabot load for the 7.62X25, at any speed, Please share it with us. Mabe I can put off that 22 REED barrel I've been lusting after...
