Well, fellas, I finally made the jump. I have decided to leave my old 26 dollar Lee Single Stage press for a shiny new Lee 4 hole Auto Turret. The possibilities are maddening with this press, it seems. For instance:

45ACP--Originally I was going to use a decap/resize on hole 1. Followed by flare and charge with auto disk on 2. Then I was going to use a seating die only on three and a crimp die on 4. I got to thinking though, I usually seat and crimp in one step on my .45s, so why not get a powder cop and use it on the third hole, just as an added security? What are your opinions on this?Anyone?

45 colt- I am using a lee three die set, with a redding seater die.

38/357- I have a lee 4 die set. I am a little leary of using the FCD, as I have heard nothing good about them, but since its a 4 hole turret i am going to try it and see what happens.

So, I guess the point of this is, does anyone here use a powder cop with a turret press like this? Am I just wasting my money if I buy it?

I've noticed many of us use these small LED lamps with a flex neck so we can see in the shell how much powder is in there on every round. This is fast and easy so no powder cop is needed. You can get these little clip on battery powered reading lights for 5 bucks and the batteries last a very long time.
You don't specify but you want the Classic Turret, not the deluxe turret. You'll also want the Pro Auto disk and Safety Prime to go with that press. You will be wondering why you didn't buy the Classic Turret sooner.

I have the classic turret. I already had the autodisk powder measure, i used it on my single stage. I bought the safety prime, both large and small, and the auto disk riser also, so that it would all work together. I have one of those little flashlights, I used it now when batch load, I will probably attach it to the press though, that sounds like a plan. I am really looking forward to getting this thing all set up. The press and stuff came in the mail yesterday, its very nice, has a good heavy feel to it. So, I guess I will put off on buying a powder cop for a while, see how things go.

I have a fexible snake light with an LED on it. I use them under cars and stuff too. i can hook it up on the press so that its always illuminating the case in the down position.

I use a powder cop die simply because I can see a difference of .2 grains powder charge. I don't feel like I can see this with the naked eye no matter how good the lighting is. Try and see if you can see the difference. If you can then you don't need the powder cop die, just a good light.
