I am fairly new to rifle reloading. I am reloading 243, 30-06 and 7mm rem mag. I am using H4350 for the first 2 and tried it for the mag but I would like to know what everyone else is using.

Thanks Brad

Welcome to THR, yes 4350 works for all three. In 243 use it for 100 grainers. It seems to work in 30/06 too very well. For 120 grainers in the 7mag. For bigger bullets in 7 mag, use 4831 or 7828 or R25.

7mag

IMR and H-4831, Reloader 22 and H1000.
I like IMR for the 140-160gn weights, and then switch to h1000 for the heavies and I REALLY like H-1000.

MY 7mm mag like IMR 4350, 7828, especially with Sierra and Nosler 160s.

BTW, in checking my ancient powder supply, those powders were $24/lb over 20 years ago, so anything in that range today would be a bargain

For the 06 and .243 H4350 will work just fine. But for 7 mag using a typical 140 or 150 gr. bullet you get more typical velocities with some a bit slower burning, such as IMR7828, H1000, R22, R25, Retumbo are all good choices.

However, a good powder for all three would be R22 or IMR7828. Duuring this powder shortage I've fallen back to 7828 for all three and I haven't felt the least bit short changed.

Thank you all for the responses. I think I am going to try some h100 and maybe reloaded 25 if I can find either

re19 and 4831 will work well with any bullet weight in the 7mag. If your using 150s or heavier re22 and 7828 get then nod too. Ive got no use for anyting slower burning then that in a 7mag.

I tried several powders in my 7 mag. I got good accuracy with several, but speeds were slow, even at max charges. I know speed isn't everything, but if you're not equaling 270, then why bother with a 7 mag.

RL 25 is the only powder that I found that gave me speeds that would better 270 or 30-06 loads, and still have good accuracy.

I am new to the 7mm Rem.Mag. I have used RL 22 &25 and Retumbo all with Speer 160gr.SP. I have not been able to shoot these loads enough to come to any conclusions other than they all are accurate....right now, anyway, until I can shoot some more. I have some 175gr. Sierra Gamekings. I haven't loaded any of these because I am still pondering the twist of my rifle's barrel and the weight of these bullets. Eventually, I will try them. Just gotta get used to this rifle, first. My rifle is a Interarms Mark X commercial 98 action built at Zestava. I use 4831 and VV N160 with 70 and 80gr. bullets, in the .243 Savages, I shoot. So many combinations work in .243. A fun caliber to load.

I have used IMR7828, IMR4831, H4831, H1000, and Retumbo behind Nosler 160gr Accubonds. My current load is IMR4831 .5gr above Hodgdon's Max data set .010" off lands, no crimp, and CCI #250. I also load this same load with Federal mag primers, but back off to .5gr below Max. The Federal primers seem to run 100fps faster out of my 7mm

Last year I was having problems getting enough RL22 or 7828 to do me any good for the 7 mag, 270, and .243, so I settled on H4831 and it worked finefor all 3. The only thing I noticed is my 7 mag velocities were down a tad, but not enough to give me problems during hunting season.
